        heh
      • there is that
      • reosarevok_
        I'll happily beta-test it :p
      • But it would be silly to pay MB for the privilege of making MB's data better :p
      • ianmcorvidae
        haha
      • possibly true, yeah
      • kovacsur
You need to be *really* dedicated for that.
      • kepstin
we might be able to convince them to give autoeditors free unlimited api access... :)
      • hawke_1 imagines a points system: n accepted edits gets you a month of unthrottled webservice
      • ianmcorvidae
        haha
      • reosarevok_
        heh
      • ocharles
I would have thought we don't even need a throttled web site
      • only web service
      • ianmcorvidae
ocharles: userscripts use the web service
      • that's the issue here
      • reosarevok_
        Speaking of that
      • ocharles
        oh?
      • reosarevok_
        (n accepted edits)
      • I noticed yesterday I have now more edits made than nikki
      • reosarevok_ is worried
      • :p
      • ianmcorvidae
        haha
      • ocharles
        lol
      • kepstin
ocharles: with the number of userscripts advanced editors use to workaround site issues, it's pretty easy to hit the webservice usage limits :/
      • ianmcorvidae
nikki said she had what, 43?
      • not all of them use the WS, of course, but
      • reosarevok
I have less than 15 here
      • I still hit the limits
      • kepstin
I think right now when I look at a release page, it does between 2-4 musicbrainz webservice queries, and one acoustid webservice quer
      • i'm a fairly light userscript user :)
      • ocharles
maybe people could yknow, submit website patches
      • reosarevok
ocharles: yeah, but some scripts wouldn't really fit
      • I mean, http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/121723 is one of the ones that make me hit the cap
      • I don't think it really should be part of MB
      • With http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/119544 I'm more doubtful, it might fit better
      • kovacsur
Mine only makes ws calls to load artist/work entities when you paste an MBID
      • reosarevok
        Nothing while actually adding them?
      • (the relationships I mean)
      • hawke_1
reosarevok: That one is damn sexy.
      • kovacsur
That's website throttling, I guess -- it just submits forms
      • hawke_1
reosarevok: Just needs to work from a recording search too
      • reosarevok
        Oh
      • Then ocharles: remove website throttling! :p
      • ocharles
a more efficient web service would probably let us up the bar on throttling
      • reosarevok
hawke_1: it is, but it really goes against the idea of making vanilla MB more browser-friendly
      • I mean, if I want to see a list of recordings I don't want that box all around
      • hawke_1
        reosarevok: Agreed.
      • reosarevok: Maybe we need a toggle button somewhere for an advanced interface or something
      • Woo, Django Reinhardt is down to 111 pages of recordings. :-D
      • From 120 when I started
      • ocharles
        heh
      • hawke_1
I could see hiding/showing relationships with an advanced button, too.
      • reosarevok
        hawke_1: don't we do that now? :p
      • hawke_1
reosarevok: Do we? I thought that was part of bitmap’s script, not the website proper
      • reosarevok
ocharles: if what kovacsur says is true and the throttling that is affecting me is actually the website one and not the webservice one, just upping the bar a bit would help
      • hawke_1: it's the site
      • ianmcorvidae
I think the disable button is part of the userscript yeah
      • reosarevok no longer has the script installed
      • reosarevok
(or rather, I didn't install it in this computer)
      • And I have the switch
      • Although it doesn't hide the release ones I guess, just the ones in the tracklist
      • ianmcorvidae
        ah, okay
      • hawke_1
        Where’s this button? :-/
      • I don’t see it, and I disabled the userscript
      • reosarevok
        hawke_1: by "Rating"
      • hawke_1
        reosarevok: On a release page?
      • reosarevok
        Yes...
      • hawke_1
        I don’t see it at all…
      • reosarevok
        Title Hide Credits RatingLength
      • DarkerAudit joined the channel
      • hawke_1
        Oh, there it is.
      • reosarevok
        :)
      • hawke_1
I was looking by the release rating
      • reosarevok
        Oh, sorry!
      • reosarevok never uses ratings anyway
      • So I didn't even remember there was one :D
      • VxJasonxV
Anyone know if there's a site like browser shots that isn't absurdly slow.
      • hawke_1
Hmm, the link moves left/right when I click it. That’s mildly annoying
      • i.e. “show credits” is left of where “hide credits” is
      • CatCat
        WOAH
      • Megaupload is my favourite
      • reosarevok
        :p
      • hawke_1
Heh, not helped by the fact that the recording I’m looking at has duplicate dated/undated relationships. :-/
      • reosarevok is a mediafire fan
      • reosarevok
But yeah, MU is much, much less of a pain than many of its competitors
      • CatCat
        especially fileserve, fuck that thin
      • g
      • it is
      • old sapidshit isn't as bad either.. the rare times it actually loads XP
      • *rapidshit
      • reosarevok
        hawke_1: off with them!!!!
      • ijabz joined the channel
      • hawke_1
        reosarevok: I did!
      • CatCat
now now, there is nothing wrong with (de)capitalisation
      • hmm
      • CatCat food
      • hawke_1
reosarevok: Now we just need the ticket fixed so that MB stops creating them. :-D
      • luks: Would it be hard to make the acoustID integration script icons show next to the title, instead of at the bottom?
      • reosarevok mehs
      • reosarevok
        "SLOW DOWN"
      • I don't want to! :(
      • kovacsur
reosarevok, are you running multiple scripts in parallel?
      • reosarevok
I am adding 24 works from recordings via bitmap's script while trying to manually add the parent work in another tab
      • It doesn't like it
      • Hmm
      • But now that I see it
      • VxJasonxV
        surprise :P
      • reosarevok
I have other tab open in the recordings tab of other artist
      • Haven't touched it in hours
      • So it shouldn't be doing anything
      • But let's make sure by moving tab :)
      • VxJasonxV
ocharles, you also assume people know perl
      • reosarevok
Anyway, the usefulness of saving time via scripts is quite reduced if I have to sit and wait for them to finish running :p
      • (before I can touch the site at all)
      • kovacsur
well, they still save you a couple hundred clicks
      • reosarevok
        Sure, sure
      • It's just annoying that the website is stopping me from making it better :p
      • VxJasonxV
        so, I have an idea
      • project: MB Importers
      • reosarevok
VxJasonxV, the fact remains that some scripts don't really fit in MB
      • (but in a more general case, I agree)
      • VxJasonxV
MB has FreeDB importers, why not let us work on some officially-sanctioned system that will let MB do some of the heavy lifting to pull from consistent sources? discogs, bandcamp, itunes, amazon (maybe)
      • reosarevok
        Oooh, you mean that
      • :)
      • VxJasonxV
Those are a big part of my use. And pre-filled tracklists are a god send.
      • hawke_1
Aha, it’s apparently because the icon goes at the end of the td, after the div for the relationships…but it needs to go after the title.
      • reosarevok
I thought you meant designating people to import userscripts into mb-server ;)
      • VxJasonxV
        naw
      • I'm biased, but I like my idea.
      • add realease, add va release, add release from url
      • hawke_1
No idea how to change that though…oh well.
      • murdos
navap: you should update http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/93894 so it supports beta ;-)
      • reosarevok
        You mean bitmap
      • I guess
      • (@ murdos)
      • VxJasonxV: well, there is an iTunes importer userscript, a Discogs one and a Bandcamp one
      • (although the latter two refuse to work in Chrome I think)
      • (and the iTunes one still has flaws)
      • murdos
ah, yeah... brain needs some rest, thanks for correcting me reosarevok :-)
      • reosarevok
Making them more official risks looking a bit like we're in ur website stealing ur data
      • Which I don't mind, but I don't know if it's technically allowed
      • VxJasonxV
Well that's my point. I use those, I love them, and I want them without having to open firefox to generate them.
      • reosarevok would suggest editing them so they are not ff-only :) )
      • reosarevok
        - )
      • hawke_1
VxJasonxV: an 'import userscript support team' would be probably better, IMO
      • ijabz_ joined the channel
      • VxJasonxV
        oh pshaw
      • what's in a name.
