        I didn't remember that :p

derwin, I know, but when I see bad sectors start to increase, I consider that a good time to get that drive out of the critical path. I have 16 years worth of work on that volume and my backup capacity is now stretched to the limit
      • I donated a few edits
      • reosarevok_
Oh, it seems I did, back in 2008
      • Why it says "last year", who knows

jacobbrett/reosarevok : "headphones" is pretty neat, if you have questions about it I might be able to answer
      • it does seem to be pretty "aggressive" in how it queries mb, versus for example beets
      • reosarevok_
        Oooh
      • derwin
it also has a *terrible* name, heh.
      • reosarevok_ was really really confused
      • jacobbrett
derwin: What does it do, exactly? Does it require UseNet access?
      • derwin
jacobbrett: it is like "sickbeard", but for music. it requires usenet access and access to a usenet search engine. you enter in artists, it looks them up on MB and then searches for their music via the usenet search engines. It also does mb-based renaming/tagging via integration of beets.
      • one thing I think is kinda funky is that it seems to "freshen" artists to see if they have new releases, and I think it might do so daily (?)
      • reosarevok
        Heh
      • Daily, like at 3 AM?
      • :p
      • ruaok
does it happen to be written in python??
      • reosarevok: :-)
      • derwin
yes, it is written in python
      • (which is how it can easily integrate beets for tagging, etc)
      • ruaok
and headphones is broken right now?
      • derwin
I don't know, but if you're banning python useragent, I'd sorta presume so?
      • ruaok
        thats what I am surmising.
      • derwin
beets probably uses the same UA
      • ruaok
but it might very well be the culprit.
      • derwin
so it is probably broken too, but they haven't mentioned it in #beets
      • beets is, from what I can tell, very respectful in terms of query frequency
      • reosarevok
ruaok, feel like mailing these headphones guys? :)
      • ruaok
I feel like going to bed. :)
      • luks
derwin: new version of beets doesn't use pymb2 anymore
      • so it should work fine
      • reosarevok plays the last Earth album
      • reosarevok opens an issue on the guy's github to see if he's related to the issue

        can we delete artist ?
      • jacobbrett
_5moufl: Yeah, that looks like a one-off collaboration; use this tool: http://musicbrainz.org/artist/0bd180b7-598a-4cd...
      • _5moufl
        But there's no release group
      • so why split an empty artist entry?
      • I mean with no release attached to it
      • jacobbrett
        It has a recording attached...from a compilation
      • If it were empty, it should be automatically deleted by ModBot.
      • ijabz joined the channel

but why is it already split on the compilation page jacobbrett :s

nikki: do you have your ISRC submit page handy ? My CD drive is so clumsy :/ (isrcsubmit.exe wrong though I have the ISRC retrived by mediatool←can’t submit)
      • nevermind for right now, nikki, after 10 tries, I got a correct IRSC split out to submit
      • but whenever you can give it away, it would be cool !
      • hey are you there luks ?
      • luks
        yes, but no, I can't fix isrcsubmit.exe :)
      • jesus2099
        (T_T;)
      • you mean the mutli-disc fix ? You can’t do it easily quickly etcly ?
      • luks
        no
      • jesus2099
        how sadistic
      • (sad)istic
      • ;)
      • luks: fixing the slide down stuff is difficult (but only for some lame cd drives) but the → multi-disc fix, isn’t this easier ? ←
      • luks
        no, it isn't
      • well, it's easier
      • jesus2099
        but not *super easy* ;)
      • luks
but still outside of the time limit that I'm willing to put into it
      • jesus2099
        ach, … you don’t submit ISRC ?
      • luks
no, and I don't use any Windows machine either
      • jesus2099
        wow
      • just a last tip maybe : maybe the simplest fix would be to select a matching tracklist instead of a matching release so there would not be some heavy code rework to make, maybe ?
      • so it would always be a 1CD, never 2CD or more, this way
      • luks, thanks for having coded some stuff you don’t even use btw. I thought you would need it too but you dedicated it to us only, thanks ;)

jesus2099: In case you read the scrollback…would it be hard to have the ISRC remove links open in a new window?
      • er, acoustID remove rather
      • For your ISRC/AcoustID/PUID script
      • thomasvs joined the channel
      • luks: Picard could definitely use some stronger preference for tracks/releases that are already loaded…
      • luks
it should do lookups in batches
      • and try to do matching decisions on groups of files, not all files individually
      • hawke_
        Perhaps
      • but preferring already-loaded releases would be a big improvement
      • Does it just always pull the first release for an acoustID, or what?
      • luks
no, it does some textual matching on the original tags
      • if there are no original tags, it's basically random
      • hawke_
Or if all releases are essentially the same, I assume.
      • luks
        yeah
      • hawke_
It seems to be consistent, not totally random.
      • Whoa, hitting refresh on a release can screw up the file-track associations. :-(
      • First time I’ve seen that.

        hello five zero two
      • hawke_: well it is *super easy* but… actually I like the default behaviour for links (and we can SHIFT or CTRL click for alternate behaviour)… but I can make it a setting maybe or the default, let me guess :)
      • 502: I guess it’s time to stop editing
      • hawke_
jesus2099: Yeah, middle-click or ctrl-click is easy enough, it would just be nice to have it by default because the 'remove acoustid' page doesn’t go back to the release page when it’s done
      • Not sure about ISRC and PUID of course
      • jesus2099
hawke_: I think I’ll do this, you’re right that, however against my principles, it would be stupid not doing it probably ;)
      • yes I sjhould put back the add/remove ISRC also
      • hawke_
Yeah, I’m not a big fan of things that open in a new window…
      • but hitting back 5 times is worse. :-)
      • (ok, twice)
      • jesus2099
hawke_: yeah, let me write this in the todo…
      • :)
      • hawke_
        Thanks much
