what to do when the exact same album was released under different names? :)
nikki
curse people
W3ird_N3rd
hmmmk
and what to do about the release on MB?
are you ok nikki? :)
nikki
yeah!
W3ird_N3rd
:)
nikki
well, how different are the names?
W3ird_N3rd
from Tom Jones, one album is known as "At this moment" or "Move closer". The latter is already on MB
nikki
hmm...
W3ird_N3rd
I have a similar case from Gloria Estefan where one album is named "Anything for you" in Europe and "Let It Loose" in the rest of the world
reosarevok
I'd add it twice, it's going to be separated for NGS after all… but dunno
nikki
I guess there are two options, use one release and add a note to the annotation to fix it in the next server release when releases can have different titles while sharing the same tracklist
reosarevok
Oh, yeah, forgot about that
Might be easier
nikki
or add it twice, but then you'd need to merge the tracks later
W3ird_N3rd
I'll add a note :)
and attach the disc ID to "Move closer" now (although my CD is "at this moment")
I'm blind but I see no option to add a note
nikki
when adding a disc id?
you have to go back and add it later :/
W3ird_N3rd
I've already added the disc ID
but couldn't enter a note at that point
just add a release annotation I guess
reosarevok
Yeah
W3ird_N3rd was searching for the word "note"
outsidecontext joined the channel
kepstin joined the channel
W3ird_N3rd
all is good now :)
nikki
hi kepstin!
W3ird_N3rd
it's interesting that the CD from Tom Jones doesn't have a barcode
I don't think I've seen that before
nikki has a few without barcodes
nikki
one of them annoys me because amazon has a barcode for it
W3ird_N3rd
:D
maybe the barcode was originally on a sticker
nikki
possibly, I don't remember seeing one though
kepstin
hi nikki :)
kepstin spent the last couple days rebuilding computers, and now has a fancy network storage system set up...
nikki
oh, cool
nikki is still using an external drive
we have four unused computers... should probably turn one into one for storing stuff on or something :P
W3ird_N3rd
make an aquarium
nikki
nah
reosarevok
Hmm
You could make an armchair with them
kepstin
yeah, I ended up designing a purpose-built miniserver machine with raid drives.
nikki
our computers are a bit too leaky to make an aquarium with
jealous...
W3ird_N3rd
duct tape?
nikki
poor fishies... living in the dark :<
W3ird_N3rd
make a window in the sidepanel?
I also keep way too much stuff
nikki
or I could just buy an aquarium :P
W3ird_N3rd
but it's so hard to throw things away when they still work :(
kepstin
I really should get rid of my 486
it serves absolutely no useful purpose :)
W3ird_N3rd
I have a 486
and a Pentium 1, and another, and a Pentium 2, and a Pentium 3, and an Athlon 1200, and the Athlon X2 5600+ I'm typing this on
kepstin
part of the point of my new server was replacing an old athlon xp box with something a little more power efficient :)
got an Atom chip rated for max 12W power use.
now that my storage array isn't inside my main desktop, I can actually turn it off when I'm not using it, too.
the desktop, that is.
W3ird_N3rd
I don't have a NAS
now I can turn really everything off at night
nikki
yeah, that's one reason I don't really want to use the old computers... they're old and probably horribly inefficient
W3ird_N3rd
nikki, depends, really
nikki
on?
W3ird_N3rd
I have a 500Mhz laptop that uses 13 watts. If I just need to look something up on wikipedia, turning that on uses less energy than starting my Athlon X2 5600+ with 24" TFT
kepstin notes that his 1.5ghz laptop typically uses 10-12W.
kepstin
and given the ridiculous battery life some newer laptops are showing, they must use even less...
W3ird_N3rd
okay but I don't have a 1.5ghz laptop kepstin :P
kepstin
at least your laptop predates the pentium 4 - those were absolutely horrible chips to have in a laptop :)
W3ird_N3rd
and a X2 5600+ laptop couldn't replace my desktop
gorgonzola joined the channel
nikki
well I was talking about old computers, I don't really have battery life to use as an estimate :P
I mean...
computer computer... not laptops
I only have one old laptop and that's a mostly-broken ibook
