mudcrow: we couldn't decide what a label is anyways, but a self-released album is whatever isn't released by a label, so we can't really answer your question until we define a label :)

Many of the big stars have their own labels, so they would probably move to "self-released".

i think about 80% of all my vinyl could be classed as selfreleased. most punk bands use their own label

srotta: I don't think those should count; in those cases thhe stars actually really do create a label. There's a big difference between having your own label and mailing out your own CDs

i think "self-released" is more for bands that are not signed by a label, don't own a label but rpoduce and sell CDs anyway.
