sly & robbie were rhythm section in, but not members of black uhuru, and michael rose was the lead singer for black uhuru for years

but after he left, black uhuru (sometimes with sly & robbie, sometimes without) often supported him live

and on a few festival live releases, all three played, separately, except it was the exact same people on stage for all three performances :)

well there's been massive lawsuits going on in england and europe over rights to a lot of it

there's yet another Marley court case going on right now... $60 mil lawsuit

oh not marley, lots of smaller reggae artists, who had their rights virtually stolen in the late 70's

and are starting to get them back now

reading the list of artists in those judgements is pretty amazing (and they aren't all only the lesser known artists)

basically half of jamaica went after half the record industry over royalties and publishing rights

the reggae legal mess, is phenomenal -- similar to US R & B/Blues before the Sam Cooke era

the interesting thing here is that they won, without too much trouble

the majority of the fight is record labels trying to get the payments cut down

tho it happened quite a bit later. but any artist that agrees to anything that stoopid in this era gets what he/she deserves
