      • cooperaa
        sounds sorta familiar
      • cooperaa looks it up
      • drsaunde
        its VERY Canadian...quite funny
      • BrianFreud
cooperaa: you prob have old version, I asked the same - his latest has that in it :)
      • cooperaa
        oh thanks BrianFreud
      • Jugdish
what do you guys think about using a youtube video of a live performance of a song as the proof for a lead vocals AR?
      • cooperaa
      • is it the same recording?
      • it's pretty inventive, creative
      • BrianFreud
hmmm, amazing release there... only 116 minutes long, not counting the unknown time track :P
      • Jugdish
no, a live performance as proof of a studio recording...but same person singing
      • cooperaa: the video track mentioned on that discogs page isn't [silence] and has a different track length
      • cooperaa
person who added it from discogs said they didn't know what to put cuz it was the video so they entered silence
      • Jugdish
but what about the difference in track lengths? 12:29 vs 3:52
      • cooperaa
        no idea
      • maybe they added it from a disc id
      • no, I really have no clue
      • SenRepus
data doesnt always have the same track time?
      • cooperaa
        that's what I thought...
      • BrianFreud
        it should
      • depends on how much data, right?
      • Jugdish notices that it was imported from FreeDB and wonders what FreeDB called the [silence] track
      • cooperaa
if you're reading it as audio, a video would appear longer since it's much bigger
      • BrianFreud
        yeah
      • Jugdish
that doesn't make sense to me
      • hmm, on FreeDB the track title is just blank
      • SenRepus
also depends on wehre the data is or how much gap it has
      • Jugdish
what sort of program would just blindly translate megabytes into a track length?
      • cooperaa
        one that sucks
      • SenRepus
megabytes = space on disc = disc id
      • BrianFreud
Jugdish, I'm curious... on the voting screen, the data that's hidden, it's still there, right?
      • Jugdish
        the data that's hidden?
      • BrianFreud
you know how you can click a release to "expand" it out?
      • Jugdish
        oh yeah
      • BrianFreud
        the little arrow button
      • Jugdish
yes it's there, it's just made invisible via CSS
      • BrianFreud
would it be hard to, I don't know, turn the release text background red if release event date >current date?
      • Jugdish
when i load an edit list i originally see all the expanded releases as it's loading, then they all collapse once the javascript kicks in
      • BrianFreud
help catch all these "entered before released" ones?
      • Jugdish
        no, that wouldn't be hard
      • BrianFreud
I'm going through hitting all the no note ones now
      • but those are my next pass through
      • Jugdish
i don't personally have a problem with future releases so long as they have track lengths and puids, that's a good indication it got leaked and the data being entered isn't pure speculation
      • BrianFreud
Ugh, I see so many post-release edits to fix things, etc
      • minimally, they ought not to be set to "official" - they're from an advance promo copy, or whatever
      • Jugdish
we desperately need a better way to classify/handle internet leaks, we can't just ignore that they exist
      • cooperaa
well if it was added from a promo and the final tracklisting is different, a new release should be added
      • old one kept as promo
      • BrianFreud
        that's my sense
      • Jugdish
        i agree with that
      • cooperaa
but I like the set as bootleg for now
      • BrianFreud
if it gets added as official I vote no, unless the status is changed and the info rock solid
      • cooperaa
good god.... 4 more pages to go of my subscribes
      • Jugdish: you know the AR greasemonkey script?
      • Jugdish
        yeah?
      • cooperaa
did you set that one up?
      • yes, I see you did on userscripts :)
      • Jugdish
        the AR disambiguation one?
      • cooperaa
when setting "X is the earliest release of Y" can you make it include the first release event?
      • yup, that one
      • Jugdish
        yeah
      • cooperaa
        that'd be cool
      • Jugdish
        only under that condition though?
      • only for albums or for tracks too?
      • cooperaa
        ummm
      • is it always needed?
      • I just thought it would be useful for that case
      • but it may be for others
      • BrianFreud
woot! only 1150 release edits to go! :)
      • cooperaa
you said 1178 a LOOOOOOOOONG time ago :)

      • no its not

      • cooperaa

      • catgroove

      • cooperaa

      • BrianFreud

      • cooperaa

      • catgroove
gag hefront the braincare specialist saysthis about zaphod beeblebrox

      • I have no idea
      • BrianFreud
        lol
      • catgroove
i'm tryingto figure out why this guy is http://musicbrainz.org/show/edit/?editid=7027478
      • Jugdish
what percentage of edits that you ask for proof on do you actually get a response from the editor?
      • catgroove
        since two days now
      • BrianFreud
        about 50
      • Jugdish
        heh
      • and the other 50 get no's?
      • BrianFreud
        yeah
      • catgroove
bah i now have very little time left
      • BrianFreud
then about 50% of them come back with urls
      • catgroove
        goodmorning eberybody
      • BrianFreud

      • catgroove is now known as skolemo
      • cooperaa
        welcome to the party mo
      • BrianFreud
Jugdish: that plugin ought to work on opera, right?
      • mo so so so needs that plugin
      • Jugdish
        plugin?
      • BrianFreud
        the script
      • Jugdish
i'm not sure, i thought greasemonkey was a FF-only thing
      • but what do i know O_o
      • cooperaa
      • BrianFreud
I know there's an opera thing to run em
      • SenRepus
what a pain in the ass
      • BrianFreud
actually, side benefit is the text box being nice and normal sized, so you can read what you're typing
      • SenRepus
i was glad to have those 300 TMBG NATS off my list but some guy voted no and made you resubmit them
      • thats just rude
      • BrianFreud
        lol, blame lauri
      • cooperaa
if a band intentionally leaks their album, does that constitute a digital release event?
      • BrianFreud
        i guess so
      • plus there's gonna be like 4 versions of that release
      • if they intentionally leak it, is it then a promo, instead of a bootleg?
      • cooperaa
gonna have to find some proof it was actually intentionally released first
      • hmm
      • stupid bands
      • srotta
I'd first confirm that it was really leaked, and then just add the info to annotation.
      • cooperaa
        apparentlly it was
      • it's been added to the DB :)
      • with trms
      • srotta
        Yeah, but intentionally?_)
      • cooperaa
oh, I meant the release - the release event is currently the expected official date
      • SenRepus has quit
      • srotta
Intentional leak sounds like "we don't plan on recording anymore" :P
      • BrianFreud
maybe someone in the band needed ratio creds at a torrent site?
      • ;p
      • cooperaa
        LOL
      • what do you think of adding an annotation to leaked albums?
      • This album is currently set to 'Bootleg' as it was leaked before it's official release date. Once the date has passed, please remove this annotation and change the status to 'Official'.
      • ojnkpjg
how about, "YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL"
      • cooperaa
        I doubt they are
      • ojnkpjg
        they might be
      • cooperaa
        really doubt it
      • skolemo
        lol ojnkpjg
