If you are, you just need to change some paths in the apache config, but otherwise it should work fine

ive just stuck it in /home/musicbrainz_user/mb_server but i will be wanting to run a web frontend

You'll just need to remember to use that path in the apache vhost config then, that's about it

In fact, that's set in DBDefs.Pm iirc, towards the top

oh good, and as for the perl modules that need installing do you recon i should use cpan or apt?

I'd go with Cpan

At least that way you can go to search.cpn to download specific revision tarballs

grr why does debian insist on going to dhcp even though its set to static in /etc/network/interfaces

Sure you've not something like network manager overriding it within your display environment?

nope its just a terminal, i set it to static and restart networking and it will work on the static address for abit then i cant connect anymore on that address and it goes to the dhcp after that

usually i just remove dhcp3-client and that usually fixes it

/etc/postgresql/$version/main/ has your config files in iirc

pg_config: /usr/bin/pg_config /usr/share/man/man1/pg_config.1.gz

to install modules on cpan is it just install DBI::DBD and will cpan handle the rest or is there more to it

surely DBI is packaged for your distro too

I for one opt into installing Cpan modules via cpan rather than dealing with .debs via apt heh

that means it was released on 1989-03-21

all the ones I've seen after 1990 just say the year, the ones before then have these weird letters

It's been yonks since I last set up a Mason branch of MB, but apt-getting stuff worked for me

You'll need to apt get some apache dev packages for some of the Apache CPAN packages though

apache-perl is fine, but it's not in recent version of debian/ubuntu anymore
