I just wish someone would have mentioned this last time I asked about release events in this series
Nothing like being 300+ releases deep and being told it all has to change
Muz
This only goes to further prove how the wiki needs a major boot up the arse and a clean up to go with
ruaok has quit
Coeus
I think it's more to do with voting
Muz
Well, if you read the how to edit guide before voting ;)

I come in here months ago asking about the release event on this series for an edit, people go and vote and I continue on my way
A majority of the releases later, I hit a popular artist and now it becomes a problem
jacknetgb
does it make a difference where i put the mb_server code or does it not make a difference
FauxFaux
Not really.
Muz
jacknetgb, if you're not running a web frontend, nope
If you are, you just need to change some paths in the apache config, but otherwise it should work fine
jacknetgb
ive just stuck it in /home/musicbrainz_user/mb_server but i will be wanting to run a web frontend
Muz
You'll just need to remember to use that path in the apache vhost config then, that's about it
In fact, that's set in DBDefs.Pm iirc, towards the top
jacknetgb
oh good, and as for the perl modules that need installing do you recon i should use cpan or apt?
Muz
I'd go with Cpan
At least that way you can go to search.cpn to download specific revision tarballs
jacknetgb
ok ill try that

grr why does debian insist on going to dhcp even though its set to static in /etc/network/interfaces
Coeus has left the channel
Muz
Sure you've not something like network manager overriding it within your display environment?
jacknetgb
nope its just a terminal, i set it to static and restart networking and it will work on the static address for abit then i cant connect anymore on that address and it goes to the dhcp after that

usually i just remove dhcp3-client and that usually fixes it
