ruaok: ING US services are for transactiions in the US, and must be linked to a US account (thus the Wells Fargo connection)
      • ruaok
thanks. that is the impression I got from their site
      • yllona
to accomplish what you need, you'll need you can talk to the london office
      • i'll email you the number, the i have unlimited EUR calling plan and can call for you
      • ruaok
        ING's LONDON office?
      • thats a bit odd.
      • yllona
        they were thinking "english speaking"
      • i forgot you speak german, sorry ;)

I don't speak dutch, but someone working in a bank in .nl would speak english.
      • warp nods.
      • yllona
okay, either or you need to talk to europe
      • nikki chuckles
      • ruaok
I'll talk to ING via WF and see what that will cost.
      • Iknow what the .eu banks will tell me. I did my due diligence two years ago.
      • yllona
yeah, but i'd compare going to ING without the middle man
      • it's bound to be less expensive
      • wells fargo isn't offering these services out of kindess, they're making money on the transaction for sure
      • ruaok
        but its not POSSIBLE.
      • yllona
it is possible. wells fargo os working thru ING direct, which is US only
      • won't know more until you talk to ING corporate -- which is EUR

transfer and/or transaction fees are going to be painful given fluctuating US currency, typically the fee are based upon a percentage of the transaction
      • never make "small transactions" make a transaction large enough to reduce the fee
      • basically a lump sum transaction

      • BrianFreud
what was missing in the query before?
      • ruaok
I was doing a left join on the ARs and my logic for excluding ASIN ARs was totally borked.
      • so I rewrote it with a subselect. piece of cake.
      • cept that query never finished.
      • so I rewrote it using a temp table and that works fine.
      • apparently.
      • :-)
      • has ASIN.
      • does not have a coverart URL.

      • BrianFreud

ruaok, BrianFreud, do you guys need help with the ASIN stuff ?
      • ruaok
        please.
      • BrianFreud
B00005YI26 does look like it matches
      • zoke
        is there a list ?
      • ruaok
the migrate.html script is my proposed list of ASINs that could be auto converted
      • BrianFreud
        (huge page warning!)
      • ruaok
        thats only 5k
      • BrianFreud
        oh
      • ruaok
        :-)
      • no need for 101k lines.
      • zoke: the question is what to do with the cases where the "coverart url is blank"
      • zoke
how does it get onto the list if there is no coverart ?
      • BrianFreud
"coverart url is blank" == "has ASIN, has no cover / user cover"?
      • ruaok
BrianFreud: kinda. but its not quite clear to me anymore.
      • zoke
use the Amazon AR but not the CoverArt AR ?
      • ruaok
I *think* it had to do with the coverart retrieved.
      • theses cases ought to be checked for images that are 1x1 gifs.
      • zoke
        ruaok, question about your list
      • BrianFreud
well, I think we at least stand the chance of getting commissions from those, and AZN can always later add art and we'd automatically then pick it up
      • Russss[home] joined the channel
      • So I don't see any harm in them, and do see some potential benefits
      • zoke
I randomly picked release 16105 asin B0000031FW: migrate to AR.
      • ruaok
        lemme check my hypothesis
      • zoke
is the ASIN known ? Do I just get the URL for that ASIN and make the AR ?
      • ruaok
yes, in theory that is it.
      • but our goal here is not to hand add them.
      • but to craft a list that we're confident with that we can have a bot auto convert them.
      • where "bot" is a script I write. :)
      • zoke
well you can break it down into chunks
      • first you can look for releases that have UPC's but not ASINs
      • then look for releases where there is a label/artist name/release name match
      • then cdbaby
      • BrianFreud
The only thing I notice on the (empty coverarturl) ones is that there's nothing at all being displayed. So they would have had much less chance over the past 1-2 years to be cleaned out where incorrect.
      • ruaok
you don't happen to code perl, do you? :)
      • oh.
      • BrianFreud
Perhaps auto-add all the non (empty coverarturl) ones, and do the (empty coverarturl) ones without auto-approve turned on?
      • ruaok
the greater goal of this script is to do away with an outdated table in the DB.
      • zoke
I think its better not to have data than incorrect data
      • ruaok
the goal is not to find more ARs, but to make all the AR edits avilable tot he end user
      • agreed. that's why we're working on this script to figure out where to draw the line.
      • zoke
I think it would be cool if we just could get a releationship with Amazon
      • BrianFreud
hmmm, 19.814 - noone would ever check all those in a 2 week period...
      • ruaok
I'm perfectly ok saying that if my script marks somehting as questionable that we don't import.

      • ruaok
        And Russss[home]
      • zoke
ruaok, what ever course of action that you choose to do, I strongly recomend you to utilize the UPC's in the database
      • Russss[home]
yeah, the other russss is at work
      • BrianFreud
yes, I was about to suggest, perhaps dump the 19.814, only do the 62,774, we can then pick up maybe 20,000 confident ones via UPCs to replace the 19,814 non-confident ones
      • zoke
and if we have ASINs, could we also try to grab UPCs ?
      • ruaok
zoke: that vastly complicates what I am doing. :-(
