I could think of even more lists I could make, like "stuff my mum has", "stuff my nan has"... I remember teleguise asking me about a release I added at one point and I was like "I don't remember adding this... where the hell did it come from?"

since I archive everything due to lack of space, would be nice to tag "DVD backup 1", "DVD backup 2", etc, so I know what disc anything is on

then I could have just looked at the list and said "ah, I added that from my mum's collection"

then trotted off to my mum's to find out the answer ;)

what would be cool, someday, when we have community editing tags on MB - be able to pull up a list of anything I have in the db as "I have" that also has a "needs fixing" tag... if I have it, I might have a better chance at figuring out what the needed fix is

I only archive if I have been able to generate and submit a puid - it's actually rather rare that I'll have an entire release generate puids all at once, since some seem to require multiple analyses before generating a puid

(I have 5000-6000 files currently waiting for puids to be generated)

how come that when I looked up a song in Picard it suggests that it is a totally different song? Is this because someone have tagged it incorrectly?

or indeed some of those theoratical possible PUID collisions. has anybody done the math on how likely something like this is?

niklas: Lookup does it on the current tags (I believe), scan does it on the PUIDs.

niklas: what track did it return?

If you go tot he track page, you could find the PUIDs attached, and what tracks are attached to that puid iirc

I believe this has happened to me before, some years ago when I tried using iEatBrainz

no puids used during "lookup", just the tag search AFAIK

Depends. For stuff I have, which is mostly tagged right, lookup is better. :)

It's more likely to work (every trakc in musicbrainz has a name, not all of them have a puid), etc.

Yeah, I would say, the minimum to identify the works on the disc should be sufficient

but I'm waiting for Works and Magic Thing aka NGS to fix everything

i set the mb-style mails to digest, mark as read on receive, and took a couple of months break from MB when that crazyness started :)

When WorkLists fix everything, the release title should probably be close to what is printed on the release; different recordings of the same work won't need to be titled consistently. Those who want consistent release titles (this includes me) can hopefully get them built from the WorkLists.

xlotlu: I would stick with consistency, though in release titles like that I would probably chop out all but the K6 number, saving the K1/2/3/3a for the tracks

I've never really been a fan of how such classical titles are done, though I cannot think of a cleaner way to do them

so, reduce the 10-or-so extra-verbose ones, and make the rest more verbose :)

though I don't like disc 12 - there's at least three Requiems; it's assumed that one is K. 626, but it doesn't have to be
