If there is a UPC and a 0 padded EAN, which should be added to mb?
      • alastairp
        U is universal :-P
      • nikki
        ean
      • navap
The album in question was released in the states if that helps anything
      • nikki
        how come there's two anyway?
      • navap
Well amazon uses the ean, some other sites use a upc, one uses both: http://store.bluecygnet.com/13-32-B0000DELRB-1_...
      • nikki
        no cover then?
      • navap
        Haven't seen a back cover
      • nikki
as far as I know they're equal anyway, so I would add the ean because that seems to be the one people are standardising on... I seem to recall america uses them now (although upcs still work since they're just eans without a leading zero)
      • navap
An EAN is just a UPC with a country code in front right?
      • 0 being for NA, which makes the upc work?
      • nikki
I don't think so, they just reserved the ones starting with 0 for upcs
      • navap
        oh
      • nikki
1 digit country codes couldn't work anyway, there are 10 digits and something like 250 countries :)
      • navap
        Well, region codes
      • bnb joined the channel
      • If dvds can do it with 6, music can do it with 10 ;)
      • alastairp
I don't think ean is a country first
      • bnb
        @seek bizet
      • alastairp
        oh, maybe it is
      • nikki
there are some, but it's not one digit
      • alastairp
        yeah, it's variable
      • nikki
I know the ones starting with 45 an 49 are japanese, and I think 88 is south korea
      • and some with 47 are taiwan
      • don't know exactly which numbers are involved though, I just know south korean and taiwanese barcodes look weird to me :P
      • navap
Well there you go then, I wasn't completely making stuff up :)
      • alastairp
        978 = bookland
      • nikki
well, it doesn't work like you said, 45/47/49/88 plus a upc isn't an ean :P
      • navap
ya ya..I added the ean for that edit
      • alastairp
        978 + isbn = ean, though :)
      • yeah, I think upc's are a different format

        hey! what's the big idea!
      • nikki
        it was very gentle!
      • ruaok glares
      • ruaok
        ;-)
      • nikki
        wasn't http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/ticket/1158 fixed a while ago?
      • ruaok
        I think so. lemme see.
      • yes, its tricky. but its being done in libdiscid
      • so, yes.
      • nikki
        ooh, another closeable bug :D
      • voiceinsideyou
there are still quite a few people complaining about issues with the Mac universal binary though, didn;t they pertain to cd drive issues?
      • ruaok
        that too.
      • and which UB?
      • we haven't produced one yet. :)
      • nikki
it's ok for me to close it, right?
      • ruaok
next week. I'll work on that shit.
      • voiceinsideyou
i think the test one you put on your blog post, or am i mistaken?
      • ruaok
        nikki: yes.
      • voiceinsideyou
oh, that was an x86 build, not a ubin
      • ruaok
        ding.
      • nikki
I suppose if someone finds a problem with libdiscid they can create another bug, the cd looking up stuff works for me
      • ruaok
ubin is not the big deal.
      • voiceinsideyou
anyway, complaints with that build :D
      • ruaok
10.4 AND 10.5 is the bigger deal.
      • all because of 10.4 and cd issues.
      • nikki is still using 10.4 for when you need testers
      • k.
      • nikki is too cheap to upgrade :P
      • next week. this week I will forever be trying to get my list below 20 bugs.
      • MBChatLogger: off
      • MBChatLogger
        is not logging
      • is logging
      • nikki
        I'm trying to be good!
      • anyway, then how do I test 10.4 for you? :P
      • ruaok doesn't understand how to be good
      • ruaok
        heh
      • voiceinsideyou
there were quite a few comments on both the PPC and Intel blog posts, was someone following up on those?
      • i presume 'no', given the request for a Mac OSX Picard dev :p
      • ruaok
        I watched them, yes.
      • I've had some sporadic help, but mostly its people wanting to get picard running on osx.
      • as soon as they get that POOF. gone.
      • at least the last guy did some really useful work.
      • voiceinsideyou
yeah; bout the same as my experience trying to get users to help me work out the sporadic Picard issues with the "browser integration" on Windows
      • funnily, it seems to happen after I mention cmd and telnet... wonder why
      • ruaok
        lol
      • the extra boxes on the pager at the bottom bugs me.
      • but my CSS foo is too weak to fix it
      • voiceinsideyou
as is mine without time investment :p what bugs you about it anyway?
      • Remosi
style="border: none" on the inner <table>?
      • voiceinsideyou
        oh, right
      • ruaok
        Remosi: tried that. :-(
      • voiceinsideyou
i figured he'd turned borders on for demonstration purposes :p
      • let me see
      • ruaok
I think how the rules for the outer table are written they somehow prevent the pager from overriding the style
      • ruaok shrugs
      • nikki
why are there random "see all x items" for some of the entries?
      • ruaok
because only max 3 items are shown for any given instant in time.
      • how can I make that more clear?
      • navap
ruaok: Why do you have a <table> inside a <table> anyway? Doing away with that would get rid of the extra box problem I think
      • nikki
I'm not sure... they all say 23 hours ago, I guess it would have to be more specific
      • ruaok
because I dont want to redo the pager right now.
      • voiceinsideyou
perhaps being indented and smaller text, perhaps as well?
      • ruaok
its a hangover from MB started.
      • nikki
but given how often things are going to get updated, I can't see how those times are going to say different things
      • ruaok
nikki: that is a special case since I was fucking with the DB>
      • more realistically they are all going to be different.
      • nikki
so what kind of time period will it group them by?
      • ruaok
whatever has the same lastupdate timestamp.
      • which means that changed entities in the same transaction will have the same dates
      • voiceinsideyou
ruaok: as to your inner box problem, a quick hack with firebug indicates it's inheriting from topmods td, so you probably need to override on the td itself with style="border: none"
      • nikki
so if someone adds a va release, a whole bunch of artists will be affected, but if two people edit an artist separately, they'll count as separate updates?
      • ruaok
        voiceinsideyou: bing. nice. thanks.
      • stooopidly simple answer. :)
      • voiceinsideyou
i presume the new "fix" to #4092 isn't on test yet? (with trigger changes?)
      • ruaok
I don't think I ran that function. hold on
      • ok, try now.
      • voiceinsideyou
        hmm
      • it still updated both the artist and release timestamp when I created a (pending) edit for a track name
      • ruaok
        that sounds right.
      • oh, damn. pending edit. I didn;t see that.
