nikki: I don't like the idea of namespaces because the URL's drastically change. I can't just rename the end part of the URL to go to a different doc, I have to also think about what userspace it would be in.
What would be the point, you totaly lose the "real" article.
s/Image/Imagine/
Unless you meant the other way around. Have the "other" namespace redirect back to the original, that might work.
But that still seeems a bit more complicated then needed.

I think Categories are the correct way of separating official docs, official style guidelines, and normal pages.

Does Picard handle .flac files?
Muz
Check the about dialog, it says so there
From what I see, yes.
Munger
Oh yeah. Thanks
FauxFaux
Why didn't you just try it? :/
Munger
Because I haven't pulled the flac files from the acrchive yet, and was wondering whether I was going to have to convert them
FauxFaux renames a random file on his desktop to "penis.flac", drops it on Picard and gets told it's not a valid FLAC file, totally enough evidence.
Muz
Ah, I see you follow the same random naming schema as me.

creature
Ah, I see you follow the same random penis schema as Muz.
Muz
creature: I'm sure that if you check a load of the throwaway scripts I wrote and left at Last.fm, you'll find the words "moose" "pony" and "penis" in abundance.
FauxFaux
P-p-p-poker face.
I got in trouble for putting "pony" in the test data at work. D:
Muz
Hahah, I only ever use "pony" as test data at work.
The amount of papers and oversized JPGs of ponies sitting on the dev server is probably worrying.
If you want to group articles that belong in the same category, well, use categories :)
gatuguroobu
it makes it much easie to search for the thing you want
categories will also be used
with namespaces you can choose to include discusions, help and wikidoc, but exlude historical documents and not finalised guidlines (guidelineproposals) when searching
for example
pages in Wikidoc:foo (or man:foo or whatever) would be pages that never change (or sheldome change9
pages in help:foo would be spesifically how to's and faq help pages and newbie guides
everything else would probably be in main (eg no namespace)
what i mean is that namespaces (if used) will be obvious, pages won't randomly be scattered around strange namespaces
as lucks said, we will only need a few

I have a CD here with a track credited to 'The Crickets an Buddy Holly'. Do I create a new artist for this one?
gatuguroobu
media wiki comes with a few ones by default, and help is one of them, we might as well fill it with usefull information that people can utilise, rather than being empty and just confusing
erh, that depends what artist it really is, an alias, a working relationship, just a gimmic, etc
gatuguroobu justin the door, must put away stuff
Munger
Well. MB already has 'The Crickets' and 'Buddy Holly'. Normally I see them credited as 'Buddy Holly and The Crickets', but this CD specifically credits it the way I said

been focusing on trying to get the rest of the part number style bugs out of the way... a day or two behind where I want to be in the schedule of stuff to be done
2428 tests of 5789 failed atm - that should be halved in a half hour or so :)

Is there a way I can see if an MB track ID is deprecated?
luks
what is a deprecated track ID?
pbryan
luks: The source of a merge.
luks
via the website or the xml webservice?
pbryan
Presumption: In a merge, there's a source, and a target. The target survives as the "canonical" MBID, the source is deprecated?
luks: both preferred (so I can test using UI)

Could somebody please vote on these. I added a new release and had to edit the title and I need it to update before I can save the changes in Picard
