can the tags have another name ?

i'm trying to use Mp3tag... it doesn't seem to have MBID

mib_atd0os: It reads the MBID's just fine, make sure you have the options set to view the right kind of tags.

well it shows they have the MBID if you go into each file's specific details window... but it doesn't allow to sort/filter or do anything else with those tags

I would recomend adding it as one of the columns to sort by. Then, sorting by it.

You will instantly get the segregation you want.

Try manually filling the value in, following the same syntax as the other tags.

for mp3s the track id is stored in the UFID frame

that's what mp3tag is seeing

the back cover, inside of the liner, japanese lyrics section and official site all have the japanese titles... but the songs are in russian, so they have the lyrics in russian too in the liner, with the russian titles at the top

japanese releases have a league of weird rules (altho' I have to admit being partly responsible for that)

it's got to the point where a release from a japanese band for an european market - which is wholly in latin characters - is all printed in all caps because of the too pedantic interpretation of ArtistStyle

I'm thinking... the japanese titles are clearly the official set and I'd say the russian titles are alternative official titles for the tracks, but as a track list, they're not really an official track list for the release as a whole...

people misunderstand it anyway, it doesn't come under artist intent first, it comes under consistency first

Consistency would dictate that if the title is English, it should be written using English rules.

well, it doesn't help that there are two meanings for the consistency thing :)

Yeah, and sometimes they write everything in small caps, or use idiotic fonts and glyphs.

That shouldn't force us to extend that idiocy into database.

as far as I've understood it, the whole idea behind the guidelines is that western artists are inconsistent in how they capitalise their track names, so we want to make them consistent

but most japanese artists *are* consistent, so there's no real need to find a way to make them consistent

well, english people might think capitalising every word of a title is easiest to read and looks nicest, but speakers of most other languages are probably going D: D: D:

I'm no fan of MB-style capitalization -- Wikipedia helped beat that out of me with their section titling guidelines.

But if the track title is written in English, it's pretty stupid to pretend it's not and ignore the rules.

But I do understand why it's there that way in MB.

And it's especially better than most releases, which just capitalize the first letter of EVERY word in a title.

I used to hate the japanese weird caps...

but I got used to them, now it looks weird when people insist on some other capitalisation 'cause I'm used to seeing the same capitalisation everywhere

Watching "The Word" on the Colbert Report is actually irritating, because they capitalize every word in their sentences.

The least they could do is adhere to CapitalizationStandardEnglish.

heh... and I remember when I used to use romaji for all my titles... but now I can almost read japanese I don't like using romaji anymore...
