Are puids actually generated, or just returned by the MusicIP server? In other words, is it possible for a song to not have a puid?

BlueLaguna: they are returned. If you are getting (no puid) appear in picard, you need to run the files through musicIP mixer http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/HowPUIDsWork http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/MusicIPMixer

it can take upto 24 hours for the puids to be available after processing the files by musicip mixer

FauxFaux: I just moved the disc ids, removed the track times and moved the disc id back.

some false track times already set prevented the server from filling in the track times from the disc id
