        anybody alive on here?
      • can somebody attempt to use the edit-all to add a new track to the end of a release
      • I don't see that it is possible
      • obviously it needs to be done on one without a discid attached
      • okay, it can be done using the add track at the top of the release, but it is not possible in the edit-all editor
      • for fucks sake!!! Remove tracks are being automoded!!!!

        o_O
      • mustaqila really wishes he could disable emoticons on Chatzilla
      • inhouseuk
actually, I was wrong, its a flaw with the edit list screen. It looks like the track has been deleted, when they actually deleted the edit
      • BrianG
        wow
      • i don't see the flaw

Since we don't have unified way to check album catalog numbers on other site and since we can use wiki syntax in annotations, wouldn't it be a good idea to create a facility/template in Wiki that would work like ISBN template works in Wikipedia, so user can actually click on catalog number in annotation and get some list of sites with URLs with that cat.no automatically appended to it?
      • MartinRudat_
        what sort of BMG:a-bunch-of-numbers?

        MartinRudat_, yeah something like this.
      • timo-
        monday, bloody monday
      • MartinRudat_
hmm... to be truly effective, you'd need to know how to convert from catalogue number -> url for quite a few labels... though i suppose a good start would be just to go prod google with the label and catalogue number...
      • rowaasr13
I, actually, would already add such template myself for japanese codes, I just can't think about good name for it.
      • For starters links to CDJapan/NeoWing and Amazon code based search would be good.
      • I don't know if MB's wiki allow complex "if"s, but if it does, conditional links to other sites could be just added to this template latter.
      • MartinRudat_
d'ya mean add to the wiki, or the annotations? 'cause the annotations are (currently) not anywhere near that level of wikification, afaik...
      • rowaasr13
At least NeoWing's links are consistent and easy to create from code and they carry lots of japanese releases regardless of label.
      • Add template page to Wiki and then use this template in annotations.
      • MartinRudat_
...I think the wiki, though, would probably support doing complicated stuff like that, though...
      • rowaasr13
I'm under impression that it would work.
      • Other Wiki stuff worked in annotations for me thus far.
      • I can try it right now, just have to think of good name for template. :) Or I can put experimental version in my user space.
      • nightgroove
        hmm
      • now im curious
      • try that
      • rowaasr13
Yeah, trying right now. Just remind me what should link be. Is http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/rowaasr13/JcodeTemp... ok?
      • nightgroove
        probably, yes
      • rowaasr13
Errr... is http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/HelpOnTemplates all that documentation have on templates?
      • I hope they're same as on Wikipedia, then...
      • nightgroove
bah I thought you knew how to make them
      • :p
      • rowaasr13
I know. I'm just not sure they're same.
      • luks
rowaasr13: no they are not same as on wikipedia
      • + you can't use them in annotations
      • rowaasr13
        Aw, too bad.
      • Isn't there a way to enable them or some other similar facility?
      • luks
i don't think MoinMoin has something like that
      • but annotations use only very simple Perl module with wiki syntax
      • rowaasr13
        Hm, no templates at all?
      • luks
there probably would be some plugin for MoinMoin
      • but definitely not for Text::WikiFormat, the module used in annotations
      • rowaasr13
Is there any way to pass argument in URL to page in MoinMoin? That would work with this module.
      • luks
        hm, i don't know
      • rowaasr13
How are wikiwords like Ticket: done? Can this be used for dynamic page generation?

      • Macros looks like they would work, but they won't solve simple syntax in annotation problem.
      • MartinRudat_
I suggested that 'twould be nifty to have inter-wiki style links in the annotations for Artist: Release: Track: and Wiki: ...if that actually gets implemented, adding Cat: wouldn't be all _that_ much harder, I shouldn't think...
      • dholmes has quit
      • rowaasr13
Only Cat: should be somewhat conditional to list only sites that should carry that release. Or several versions of Cat: - CatJP, CatDE, etc...
      • MartinRudat_ blinks at frappr... I can see my _house_ from here; neat.
      • Hmm... right now when you try to access non-existent page, some template loads with name of that page filled in several locations. Is there something in configuration that would allow non-existent pages with names matching some regexp to load different template from standard?
      • nikki_
        yarr!
      • MartinRudat_
...I'd think it'd be easier to have a 'catalog number' cgi, and just point at that, rather than trying to extend the wiki...
      • rowaasr13
Yes, that's true. The only problem it wouldn't be as flexible, as all additions would be first first submitted somewhere.
      • However if somebody wants to quickly write one that would be really good.
      • It shouldn't be anything more than a page of perl anyway (or two, maybe if some arcane is required to print header/footer correctly)
      • I guess I'll add this RFE just a bit later to tracker. Maybe with listing of simple function that would return list of store name/link pairs for given code.

      • nikki_ likes nice simple annotations

      • They will remain same, the only change would be that you will be able to click on cat no if it is linkified and you will get separate page with list of links to stores/information page that may have info/product with this code.

      • slaad

      • Aankhen``
I think you're supposed to use the vocal.
      • "Performed vocal on: This more specific version designates artists who sang, spoke, rapped, or otherwise contributed using their voice on this work. The particular vocal role can be specified in the VocalRelationshipAttribute."

Yeah, there's no "spoke" type though. Oh well.
