Doesn't have any relationships, but it still has an Amazon info and buy link. Or is that normal?
mudcrow
thats an old script generated ASIN, you'll need to add an ASIN to remove that one.
slaad
Ah, yay.
Okay... with that particular release it's the European release. Can I use Amazon.de for the link? (Only the US release appears on .com, and I can't find either on .co.uk)
Shepard
sure
slaad
Hrm... didn't appear to like that.
Oh wait.. yes it did. But the info / buy links redirect to .com, where it doesn't exist.
mudcrow
the info / buy links redirect to whatever amazon shop you set in preferences
FauxFaux thinks waiting for the framework to actually work is needed before trying to change the interface.
nikki_
yarrrr
nikki_ doesn't really like the single panel proposal
nightgroove
I like the two apnel idea
panel
FauxFaux likes the old taggar :P
but i'm not that displeased with the current picard
it works *remarcably* well
nikki_ would like picard more or less how it is, with two horizontal panels
nightgroove nods a hat to luks
I *really* like the lastes picard
nikki_
so I can scroll separately and drop things from top to bottom without having to scroll up and down all the time
nightgroove
btw: I meantioned that it woulsnt load cd's once, remember? but that was bogus of my computer so nothing to worry about
MartinRudat
hmm... /me dittoes nikki.
nightgroove
yes
that's the *only* thing a bit condfusing with it'
nikki_
I don't particularly like the idea of *vertical* columns 'cause then there's a limited amount of width for the titles
luks
nikki_: with two horizontal panels you would have to resize them all the time
nightgroove
ideally I'd like some sort of browser internal window, it would make it easier to identify single tracks.. but I realise that's not going nt ohappen for reasons that it would make the interface impossible :)
nikki_
why?
luks
well, unleas you are running if fullscreen
*unless
nikki_
I always do
nightgroove
luks: se always runs stuff at fullscreen :)
she*
nikki_
hehe
FauxFaux
nightgroove: WX has a browser widget, soemone insane could make the server serve mini mobile-targetted pages :)
dsrbecky
Ok, ok, I know that you all are used to the current Picard. The question is what would new users like and find 'intuitive'.
FauxFaux
dsrbecky: A clone of the old tagger!
nightgroove
oohh
nei
the old tagger is :(
dsrbecky
FauxFaux: ....and useful
nightgroove
I don't use it anymore
it buggers up æøå and accents
nikki_
dsrbecky: that's exactly the problem, some people think the old tagger had a way better interface, others say the new one does
nightgroove
and unicode is forgetabout it
I like the iframe browser thing thought. but that's' about the only thing
the old tagger is is *easier for newbies*
FauxFaux
Picard 'leaves room to be desired' when dealing with VA cds and recognising badly tagged things, about all that I use it for.
nightgroove
but also its easier to make mistakes i n that 'why should I care i'm getting my tags right'
hmm
luks
all of my files tagged with the old tagger were mistagged
dsrbecky
but neither the old tagger nor Picard are helpping me much in tagging 100 directories without messing things up
luks
different releases, etc.
FauxFaux
Um, that quoted bit makes no sense at all, never mind.
nightgroove
in picard you have to search youself. in the old tagger, you uhad to do that to, but it was more transaprent since you did the searchin *within the program'
FauxFaux hasn't really thought about it, I'd like to have a go at reimplementing the old tagger, though.
and you still lhave to do a lookup for m the program, and then you can get the tagger icon to work, but I'm used tothat by now
not going to happen
luks
maybe yes
nightgroove
maybe yes o nwhat luks?
luks
the old tagger ui for picard
nightgroove
yes, some thing, a bit simmilar
for all its faults, the ui in the old tagger did *work*
FauxFaux
It also didn't make me want to hurt babies.
nightgroove
but having both the curent picard interface and something with other windows is esencial, people lahave gotten used to picard now
luks
it didn't for me, as i said, all my files were mistagger :p
*mistagged
FauxFaux wonders if it's necessary to target win98 anymore.
nightgroove
yes I mean, the problems between 'what goes here and wtf and what is this and the inline browser' worked
not that it was correct :)
FauxFaux
Ooh, we can just make them use Picard, ahaha.
mudcrow
the old tagger didnt work for me very well, I only have full releases and it was so hard to tell if every track from an album was being tagged from the same release
nightgroove
picard is a goodsent easy with album tagging
I've been doing that recently and its *so* much easiert
this book on percussion is vey helpfull
I have to lend it back to the library to dat though, which is bah, since i've just started reading ti today
dsrbecky
mudcrow: So how do you like my interface? If you have only full releases it should be ideal
nightgroove
the new interface is to deal with singular track adding, the old interface works fine for albums
tagging not adding
mudcrow
cant really comment without actually using it. took me ages to get used to picards quirks, so I'm a bit hesitant of any changes
nightgroove
we need to have bot interfaces
exactly for that reason mud said
luks
yes, that's probably what will happen
two interfaces
nightgroove
;)
i like that idea
dsrbecky
I think that the current Picard makes album tagging easier, but it is still track centric as the old tagger was. I want real album centric tagger.
nightgroove
what would be coolest, is if you could switch interfaces seamlessly, and the stuff loaded would still be loaded
erh
it is album centric?
FauxFaux
It's a shame there are no sane languages for writing GUIs in.
(NOT python, not java..)
nightgroove
wtf is wrong with python?
:p
dsrbecky
well we can have two interfaces - the current picard and the new interface in QT - if people find the new one great there will be no need to port the old interface to QT
