I presume that you should, if you know which is the right number.
      • Almad
OK...for examle above, it's mentioned in fourth track, so...,)
      • MartinRudat doesn't dare venture an opinion...
      • MartinRudat wonders where one can find a reference list...
      • of what?
      • MartinRudat
of which work has which number...
      • Almad always use his wikipedia&google-fu
      • Almad however agree that some complete list would be useful
      • Almad wonders if would be worth starting a new project...on musicbrains, perhaps?
      • I'd imagine that there's something on the web somewhere already... If for no other reason than someone assigned all those numbers at some stage, so at least _they_ know what's what...
      • Almad would imagine it too, but he hasn't found anything
      • Almad hope there is some classical music expert controlling album mods
      • luks
there is only very few of them in MB :(
      • Almad
        :-(
      • Almad tries to keep style guide, but he's still confused

      • Almad
        fine
      • wolfsong13
and there is a very good reference for this but i can't remember the name of it
      • hmmm
      • i did some digging and i think the book i'm thinking of is the de capo http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0306807017/qid...

me been killing my father who has just removed all the scart leads from the TV and then complains the TV doesnt work
      • MartinRudat
luks: yeah, I know that... but how come that album is listed on his page, but without a relationship, or being assigned as album artist?
      • luks
because someone was too lazy to import it correctly :)
      • MartinRudat blinks... ah! I should have looked more carefully... I didn't notice that he was attributed to track 9...
      • mudcrow
http://musicbrainz.org/album/c07864da-8d35-4a85... anyone have any idea what the artists are meant to be?
      • or the track titles
      • wolfsong13
        those are the composers mud
      • MartinRudat
I'd imagine that the artists are the composers of the music for the film...
      • wolfsong13
        Barry = John Barry
      • Conti = Bill Conti

      • wolfsong13
        not sure on that one
      • and they are probably the lyricist
      • wolfsong13 thinks we need to explore the "lyricists != composer" rule again in light of SG5DR
      • MartinRudat
o/` I'm the very model of a modern major general o/` or o/` High on a hill stood a lonely goatherd o/`
      • mudcrow
composer is the composer. lyricist wrote the lyrics. simple. credit the composer, add lyricist as AR
      • MartinRudat
wouldn't this mean that we'd need to change all the attributions for Rogers & Hammerstein and Gilbert & Sullivan, though?
      • mudcrow
not really, they are established partnerships
      • MartinRudat inspects the case... this case no barcode...

      • wolfsong13
mudcrow i'm talking about on soundtracks (musicals) where the Artist is only the composer
      • that whole notion came from SG5
      • mudcrow
but the composer as the artist makes more sense to me then the vocalist
      • wolfsong13
my point is there's no reason to not have a collaboration artist for those works
      • luks
MartinRudat: are you going to fix this http://musicbrainz.org/album/0fc77387-d9b0-4d47... ? :)
      • MartinRudat
luks: I'm going to have a go...
      • mudcrow
composer & lyricist? yes I agree. I have added collaborations when no distinction is made between who performed each role
      • MartinRudat
luks: I've got the liner notes (such that they are) right here.
      • lukz: I'm not going to be able to do much about the track names, I don't know enough about classical to make much sense of the liner notes (no track listing! just prose...)

luks: just had a strange encounter with an interface bug of picard
      • it grabs the mouse and doesn't let me do anything with it
      • the mouse cursor just stays like it's moving a folder
      • and it seems reproduceable
      • first time managed to kill it by bring up alt-F2 -> killall picard
      • tough couldn't even do alt-tab with the keyboard
      • the second time could't even bring up the gnome 'run application' command line. had to ssh from another pc and kill it
      • eh, I didn't mention whhen this happens
      • it's when draging and identified album. just drag the album a bit, and released the mouse button very quickly
      • I was testing with a bunch of folders already tagged and renamed by picard
      • will try yet again...

        i know about this bug

        'llo Joan.
      • luks
      • Muz
        Hey Joan
      • rpedro
        hmm, ok
      • Joan_W
        hey martin and muz
      • MartinRudat shrugs. that's all I can tell from the liner notes. More classical albums tomorrow.
      • nikki_
        hi joan!
      • Joan_W
        hi nikki
      • shopping is hell - why don't shops have what you want when you want it
      • not too much to ask is it?
      • nikki_
        oh yes!
      • rpedro
but maybe the bug is a bit different, picard doesn't seem to keep running in the background, the window becomes blank if I switch back and forth between another virtual terminal
      • luks
yes, that's because the drag&drop blocks UI
      • rpedro
and also it's not just picard I'm unable to interact with, it won't let me switch to other apps either with keyboard or mouse.
      • Muz
Joan, think yourself lucky, I hardly know where the shops are around here :P Leta lone which sells what, and who does it cheaper
      • rpedro
luks: are you able to reproduce this bug yourself?
      • luks
        yes
      • Muz should probably go wandering about here one day to get accustomed to road names
      • Joan_W
it would be a good idea muz - not a good idea to have to send out a search party if you just go out for a pint of milk
      • nikki_ doesn't get lost, she just retraces her steps!
      • Muz
Hehe, well, if ever I do go out it'd be during the day, I'd hate to get knifed up :\ It's a bad area this
      • nikki_, I pull out my PDA in such circumstances :P
      • MartinRudat
        gps-enabled pda?
      • Muz
        Don't even need that
      • rpedro
luks: I'm just saying this bug is a bit different, if you need me to find out something about the bug just ask, ok?
      • Muz
I open up Pocket Streets, whack in a place/street name, and then orientate and get my bearings
      • It's how I found the office on my first day :)
      • nikki_
I remember going out on my bike as a kid and being annoyed that I still knew exactly where I was when I reached the southern exit of scunthorpe
      • Joan_W
why annoyed - did you want to get lost or were you running away
      • nikki_
        I wanted something different
      • Muz
        Kids like adventures and "exploring"
      • nikki_
but I knew it all already
      • Muz
Heck, I still like it to an extent
      • Joan_W
I remember I ran away from home once - got about 100 yards away and decided it was not a good idea
      • rpedro
luks: I mean, run a debug version of picard or something
      • luks
rpedro: can you reproduce it always?
      • if yes, maybe i could build a new picard package so you can test it
      • nikki_
I caught the last train to doncaster when I was 16 and didn't go back
      • Joan_W
I even packed a little suitcase but forgot to take any food and that's what decided me it wasn't a good idea
      • doncaster - scunthorpe - not a lot to choose between I'd say. Maybe more shops and nightlife in Doncaster, but that's about it
      • nikki_
doncaster has better public transport and more trains leaving
      • Joan_W
where did you intend catching a train to
      • nikki_
        that wasn't why I went!
      • I went to live with a friend because I hated living with my mum
      • luks
rpedro: are you using breezy or dapper?
      • rpedro
luks: I've only tried it with the same set of files, but so far yes
      • luks: dapper
      • Joan_W
I think I must have been very lucky. I had no problem living with my mum and dad and didn't need to move because we already lived in London
      • considering I was born there it's strange that I cannot wait to get out when I go down to London .
      • nikki_
my mum had told me that I couldn't go see my friend when I got back from malta because she wanted to see me, and then a couple of hours later she went out to some pub or club or something...
      • so I packed a bag and left
      • Joan_W
        illogical - her not you
      • nikki_
sums her up in one word :)
      • Joan_W
mind you - at your age I sometimes thought my parents were illogical with their "don't do as I do, do as I say"
      • the only problem with growing older and losing your parents is that there is no-one to run to when something goes wrong and you need a non judgemental shoulder to cry on
      • nikki_
I don't feel like I have that now anyway
      • nikki_ adds a bunch of artists and relationships
      • this is hard work :/
      • Joan_W
in that case, I think a university campus, where you can take time to get to know people and interact with them, will be ideal for you.
      • luks
rpedro: can you add 'deb http://users.musicbrainz.org/~luks/ubuntu dapper dev' to /etc/apt/sources.list, upgrade picard and try to reproduce it?
      • Joan_W
It is hard work - I am trying to find an album cover but cannot get one to match up with the album on MB. Can find remastered editions, etc., but then tracks don't match up. Grrrr
      • rpedro
