Just make a short anotation that describes the way you think it should be and change your local tags manually for now. Then we can start an offical standard in the right channels soon.
      • Landus
        :P
      • Alright.
      • Do know the script was a bit of sarcasm.

      • Kerensky97
It needs to be discussed and a standard made but it will be a big discussion when it happens. There are alot of issues to hammer out.
      • Landus
        Well.
      • If my senior year of high school doesn't take up all my time.
      • I'll gladly help out.
      • Kerensky97
Well I'm on your side, when we take this to the mb-style I'm comming looking for you to back me up. ;)
      • Landus
        Gladly.
      • nikki wonders if shep's fingers are flexible enough for crossing fingers and drcken die daumen...
      • Shepard
        yes

      • Shepard
you've set it to english layout again, right?
      • nikki
        no
      • Shepard
        oh?
      • nikki
        the layout is evil
      • Shepard
then shouldn't you make lots of typos now?
      • nikki
        well, I keep switching
      • Shepard
        just to confuse yourself
      • nikki
I can't type without the german layout
      • and either way ' is hard
      • because I keep hitting the enter key by accident :(
      • Shepard
oh, you did change to german layout on your mum's notebook too?
      • nikki
        yes!
      • Shepard
        :o
      • nikki
I mostly prefer my british layout for ' and /
      • Shepard
        _
      • I prefer my german layout with some added magic :P
      • nikki
but I like the german one for ; : and and etc.
      • I don't like having to do shift 7 for /

      • Shepard
        hi rowaasr13!
      • rowaasr13
        Greetings.
      • Anyone wants to take part in yet another "I want english caps" discussion on SAC OST2? http://musicbrainz.org/show/edit/?editid=5414188
      • nikki
privet, or something which I can't type in cyrillic because mirc sucks.
      • Shepard
rowaasr13: we are already discussing it here :)
      • nikki
heh, it's already been happening in here
      • rowaasr13
Hmm, mIRC you say. Let me try: Привет
      • nikki
        I can see that
      • but I can only type latin1
      • Landus
        rowaasr13
      • rowaasr13
        Hi.
      • Landus
Enough people are agreeing with me.
      • nikki
seems that mirc is too stupid to accept unicode input, just whatever the current codepage is
      • Landus
        Kthx.
      • That's because mIRC -is- stupid.
      • rowaasr13
I can use both 日本語 and русский in mIRC.
      • nikki
        hmph.
      • I tried japanese and it just spewed lots of ?????
      • ????
      • rowaasr13
        Try View->Font->Unicode->Display and Encode.
      • Landus
rowaasr13: The SAC OST2 edit war is starting a official standard for this kind of situation.
      • rowaasr13
(Yeah, that's strange place for it).
      • nikki
        日本語?
      • Kerensky97
nikki: ???? I thought you were just confused.
      • nikki
        русский!
      • rowaasr13
        I see both.
      • nikki
        ok, that's silly
      • why not just let me use it in the first place ?_?
      • thanks though :o
      • rowaasr13
Landus, you're not the first one to try to change that and standard - use authors spelling is well estabilished already.
      • Shepard
        ?
      • hmpf
      • Landus
        It isn't the authors spelling.
      • rowaasr13
Sorry, but WHO called it "rise" or "GET9" then?
      • Landus
        Dunno.
      • Whoever it was, it wasn't official.
      • rowaasr13
Why then all of JVC/Victor, Kanno's page and ORIGA's page list it as "rise"?
      • Of course none of those have anything official to do with this song, right?
      • Landus
Probably because the Japanese symbols for 'rise' will output 'rise' or 'RISE' depending on how their converted.
      • rowaasr13
Please. I use henkan every day and no, it doesn't works like that.
      • Landus
Your claiming the cleartext conversion of Japanese to English to be 'official'.
      • rowaasr13
It is not conversion. This album, except 4 songs, have latin titles.
      • Landus
        It is conversion.
      • Take the symbols for 'Yoko Kanno' and throw them in a converter.
      • rowaasr13
Just because you wants it to be so?
      • Landus
Unless the converter is programmed to recognized those symbols as a name.
      • It's going to show 'yoko kanno' or 'YOKO KANNO'.
      • rowaasr13
Huh? You don't have any experience with japanese IMEs, do you?
      • Landus
        Some.
      • Nothing that's worth bragging about.
      • rowaasr13
Sorry, but this sounds to me just as stupid as stories about bears with vodka and balalaikas in Moscow.
      • Landus
But, I do have decent understanding on the Japanese language works.
      • Shepard
        lol rowaasr13
      • Landus
There is nothing to represent uppercase and lowercase symbols.
      • It's like trying to build technology with a number system with no 0.
      • It can't be done.
      • It's a math thing.
      • The same thing applies here.
      • rowaasr13
So? How's that related? "rise" have latin name and mixed latin/cyrillic lyrics. How that relates to k&k at all?
      • Landus
        I never mentioned anything German.
      • rowaasr13
But you did mention lots of other irrelevant information.
      • Landus
        No, I didn't.
      • nikki
        hah!
      • Shepard
it would be possible to create technology based on roman numerals :)
      • nikki
an ancient version of knoppix has enabled me to finally see my xfs partition
      • Landus
Yes, if you had a symbol representing value_nodef.
      • Which is what 0 is.
      • rowaasr13
The only disputable tracks (in virtual Latin script entry) would be 4 and 13, because they're in katakana and don't have personal pages in booklet with latin title.
      • Everything else either in latin from very begining or have page in booklet with latin title.
      • Landus
        Look at like this.
      • If "i can't be cool" and "I CAN'T BE COOL" will translate into the same Japanese symbols.
      • Is there anything drastic about having proper capitalization.
      • nikki
the cover says "i can't be cool"
      • Landus
        Since the conversion is English.
      • Which is a botched job.
      • rowaasr13
So? You telling me that whoever called those songs can't tell latin upper case from lower case?
      • Landus
        The lowecase 'i' proves it.
      • rowaasr13
Sorry, but you don't have monopoly over english.
      • nikki
yet the title for track 4 is アイドリング
      • Landus
        No.
      • I don't.
      • But when the conversions are IN THE ENGLISH LANGAUGE, certain rules apply.
      • nikki
there IS no conversion for that particular track.
      • Landus
        For O.S.T. 2?
      • There is.
      • Idoling.
      • nikki
for idoling, yes, not for "i can't be cool"
      • VxJasonxV
        a i so ri n ... mmm
      • crap, I don't know that last character
      • rowaasr13
        gu.
      • nikki
        gu
      • Landus
        Idoling is track four.
      • VxJasonxV
and I mixed up a few others
      • rowaasr13
        3rd is do, not so.
      • nikki wonders why it's so important for unofficial track listings to have the same capitalisation, it's not even an official track list...
      • Kerensky97
rowaasr13: Sorry, but you don't have monopoly over english. <--- But at musicbrainz we do. If we don't than the "Guess Case" button needs to be abolished because it has changed tracks from how they appear on the CD. Same with Classical naming standards.
      • nikki
I can see the argument when it's the official version of the titles, but this is the version with transliterations
      • VxJasonxV
        I'm getting better :)
      • a i do ri n gu , idoling? I see
      • rowaasr13
Kerensku97, only tracks that need standartizing - those inconsistent among releases/mediums should and must be standartized. Everything else is authors intent and even MB documentation says that you should not change it.
      • Landus
Prove that it's the author's intent, beyond what's on the cover.
      • The cover could've easily been a hackjob at converting the names to English.
      • Which is what I've been saying since I woke up today.
      • Kerensky97
I've seen alot of trance VA albums that were all lower case, many titles didn't exist anywhere else, but they had to fit the capitalization standards.
      • rowaasr13
It is on several different official sites of one company and two different people, consistent in several different releases. It also consistent with other medium: namely it is exactly how it is shown in OP sequence in S.A.C. 2nd GIG.
      • Landus
        ...
      • ojnkpjg
if that's the rule of thumb, there are a lot of releases that need fixing
      • because of consistent capitalization of words like 'and' and 'of' and others
      • and releases where tracks are always in lowercase
      • i've always wondered why transliterated japanese titles got a pass on the style guidelines
      • rowaasr13
What conversion, Landus? Once again, there are only 4 tracks in kana. 2 of them have latin titles on personal pages. All others are IN LATIN ONLY. They don't have any japanese names.
