      • yllona
        ru: you asleep yet?
      • ruaok

      • yllona
heh, so are you alert enuff to answer a MB question (is okay if not)
      • ruaok
        I'll try.
      • yllona
        thx, iowe you one
      • ruaok
        np
      • ohhh, the second A380 landed in Hamburg a couple of days ago.
      • ruaok didn't know a second one existed yet
      • yllona
why aren't the albums "scenes in the city" and "royal garden blues" on this page yellow? http://musicbrainz.org/showartist.html?artistid...
      • i just added detailed AR information for both albums. also why are they still uncategorized? i added the official release info
      • SenRepus
just looks like you forgot to do album?
      • ruaok
AR's don't trigger the modpending yellow notes.
      • only changes to the album itself.
      • yllona
        okay, thanks
      • slaad
One has been fart assing about in Sydney, ruaok
      • yllona
        slaad?
      • slaad
        A380.
      • ruaok
        ah yes.
      • that was #1
      • slaad
        Ah, there you go.
      • ruaok
which is grounded to have two enines replaced rght now :-(
      • yllona
        ah, devil stuff
      • slaad
Qantas is putting them into service in 2007, apparently.
      • You sure?
      • Pretty sure it was flying today.
      • yllona
ruaoak: what do you mean changes to the album itself? like changing a track name?
      • ruaok
yes, and it may have been grounded in the last few hours.
      • not the track name, that would modpending the track.
      • slaad
        Ah, that's possible.
      • ruaok
        but the album name mostly
      • slaad
But it was definately flying earlier today. Although it was an hour late.
      • yllona
        waht about release status?
      • newb_ joined the channel
      • ruaok
slaad: this is what I am working off: http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/0,1518,383612,...
      • slaad
I only speak English, so I'm going to have to believe you. :)
      • ruaok
        :-)
      • newb_
Heya all. I'm having some problems with the perl modules for MusicBrainz. I seem to be too retarded to manage extracting a tracklist of an album with inputs album name and artist name.
      • slaad
        Or Australian, more appropriately. ;)
      • newb_
        How is this done?
      • ruaok
yllona: as far as the missing attrs, do you have a mod link that shows you added the attrs?
      • yllona
        yes
      • ruaok
newb_: I may not have enough remaining brain cells to explain that
      • :-)
      • newb_
ruaok: Give it a try :P
      • slaad
I think you have to generate a TRM for all queries, don't you?
      • ruaok
have you looked at the filelookup query?
      • yllona
ru: altho i lost an entire set of ARs for an album after a move/merge yesterday
      • ruaok
you can use that to do artist/ablum lookups and ignore tracks altogehter
      • newb_
TRM? I tried googling for some guides and so on. All I found was http://www.perl.com/pub/a/2003/10/03/musicbrain... which is only good for individual tracks.
      • slaad
Or I guess you can use MBQ_FindDistinctTRMId to get a TRM.
      • futilius has quit
      • newb_
ruaok: elaborate :) Sorry for being really dense. (viel zu frueh :P)
      • ruaok
      • ah, noch ein deutscher!
      • file lookup allows you to to give a text artist name and string
      • it will return a list of artists if the artist was not unique.
      • newb_
        yep ;)
      • ruaok
you select an artist by passing the selected artist id with the album name in the next query.
      • newb_
Hmm, it sounds a bit roundabout and inefficient, since I have several thousand queries to do if it's just one query per album.
      • ruaok
then it will attempt to match albums. if anything is found it returns the list of albums
      • futilius joined the channel
      • debating that is a topic for when I am more sober. ;)
      • newb_
        damn drunkard :P
      • ruaok
the alternative is to download the data/sofware and install a local copy
      • 'tschuldigung
      • newb_
The problem for me is the perl code. I can't get it to do what it's meant to be doing, heh.
      • ruaok
is it the perl bindings or the way you query the damn RDF?
      • ruaok hates that interface
      • using RDF has been one of my biggest mstakes with MB
      • slaad
It'd be nice if libmusicbrainz had a set of classes to look up data.
      • ruaok
if the bindings are working but the queries are unclear, look at the examples.
      • newb_
probably the perl bindings, i think i'm still stuck on purely technical problems
      • i've never seen any examples :P
      • ruaok
yep. the idea was to write a layer above that, but I never got around to that.
      • slaad
        Doesn't libtunepimp do that?
      • Only, libtp is too high level and not portable enough.
      • ruaok
        did you read this?
      • what's not portable about libtp?
      • slaad
        pthreads ? :)
      • ruaok
where do you want to use them?
      • slaad
        BeOS.
      • ruaok
        ha!
      • BeOS doesn't have pthreads?
      • slaad
I just wrote a nice native layer.
      • Nope.
      • ruaok
        that sucks
      • slaad
Not sure why. Probably lack of mmap or some such.
      • ruaok
well, libtp abstracts all that out. you can write a mutex, event and thread abstration and it should work.
      • 2 hors.
      • hours. while sober anyways.
      • slaad
Oh well, moot point like I said :)
      • I have a Request class with a pure virtual method _Perform() and a method Perform()
      • yllona plays this for ruaok
      • yllona is listening to What's the Use of Getting Sober (When You're Gonna Get Drunk Again)? by Louis Jordan & The Tympany Five from Let the Good Times Roll: The Complete Decca Recordings 1938-54 (0:18 / 2:56)
      • ruaok
        lol
      • slaad
I subclass it, implement a _Perform() that does the actual look up and pass progress data back using a messenger. And have accessor methods as well.
      • Works nicely.
      • ruaok
        cool.
      • I was working on picard earlier today.
      • I can't wait to get that out the door.
      • oh....
      • yllona: did you say that you G5 needs ram?
      • yllona
        yes please
      • ruaok
        how much do you have
      • ?
      • yllona
        1 GB
      • ruaok
        in how many slots?
      • yllona
        1
      • ruaok
mail me you snail mail addy. I can help
      • yllona
        sorry 2
      • ruaok
        ok
      • slaad
My G5 needs RAM. And well.... everything else ;)
      • yllona loves you. will do
      • ruaok
I'll see if I can get more.
      • mrneil was playing RAM fairy a few weeks ago
      • yllona
ruaok: i lost my two biggest clients due to hurricane
      • ruaok
        sucky. :-(
      • as a contract software engineer, I fell for ya
      • yllona
        yeah. ugly
      • yllona is listening to Man No Sober by Steel Pulse from True Democracy (1982) (1:26 / 4:26)
      • ruaok shakes his head inhouseuk style
      • ruaok
so, I'll be coming through LA on Dec 22.
      • via amtrak.
      • yllona
        hey ya!
      • i love the train
      • ruaok
I could do a stop in LA for a couple of hours to get a drink?
      • yllona
        absolutely
      • ruaok wonders if there is action near union station
      • yep. downtown has been completely gentrified
      • ruaok
I'll be ready for a drink after 5 hours of that
      • :-) ;-(
      • and two more to get to SD
      • yllona
        yikes
      • i've done it.
