WRT bugtrackers etc... We've just moved over to using Trac, and it's pretty simple to disable the wiki on it.
YaRi has quit
nikki__
I like rt more than trac.
Russss
I'm not a huge fan of trac's bug reporting either (lack of dependencies and a few other things)
but the svn integration is great
_mo is completely lost
RodBegbie
I love Trac's SVN browsing, but the bug tracking and wiki are sub-par IMO
Russss
we've unsuccessfully been through 4 bugtrackers
RodBegbie
I <heart> FogBugz.
donredman joined the channel
Costs $$$, but it's worth it IMO
nikki__
hi don!
Russss
none of them have swayed us from our whiteboard yet
slaad
Flyspray is rather nice.
donredman
What the fuck is going on?
slaad
I'm a big fan of the one I'm writing for work.
RodBegbie
nothing. you?
;)
Russss
but trac is doing fairly well
_mo has a craving for a snack he doesn't have
_mo
:(
nikki__
don: shit hit the fan, hell broke loose, etc.
RodBegbie
I need to go back and re-eval trac -- it's been a couple of revisions since I last looked at it.
nikki__
in other words... uh... I'm not sure.
Russss
the only annoying thing is if I have a simple one-liner bug description then it's so much easier to just write it on the whiteboard than to go through the whole process of adding a bug.
plus the whiteboard has a colour key
RodBegbie
heh.
Doesn't scale too well though.
Russss
blue is "things that are ass"
yllona
seriously folks, the MB site is dawgin'
Russss
if we have more bugs than whiteboards to put them on, there's something wrong.
we do currently have 4
_mo
ylla: I noticed
RodBegbie
The explosion of collaboration artists must have crippled the server ;)
_mo
impossible to add anb artist here
slaad
"dawgin'" ?
RodBegbie eats crow ;)
If the bug adding process dissuades you from adding a bug, just write better code ;)
Russss
one is bugs, one is short-term strategy, one is long-term strategy, and one is our project planner :P
RodBegbie
Russs: You're lucky, you're doing the little startup thing.
slaad
Seriously though, if the bug tracker makes it difficult to report a bug, you need a better bug tracker.
Russss
slaad: 99% of the time it isn't my code ;)
slaad
Oh, sure it isn't. It's never *my* code :P
Russss
RodBegbie: we're thinking of just covering our new office in whiteboards.
_mo
ok
RodBegbie
You should see the "Tracker" that's the official company practice here.
