You asked yesterday, and the answer was yes, you even suggested to me what ones to acquire and to avoid Media
SenRepus
yesyes but i was wondering if your opinion changed or you liked the other stuff you heard
sorry to ask, jeez
Muz
Sorry, just in an incrediby sour mood, so don't mind me
SenRepus cuddles muz. for a second. then goes back to mo.
teleGUISE
ok... take that to the MushBrainz channel
Shepard
that would be the mushroom then?
nechto13
i recently heard that wikipedia plans to qualify some entries as stable and everything else as live, shouldn't MB follow suit at some point in the future?
teleGUISE
:) slow.. but good one
Shepard
sorry didn't have my daily dose of bad puns yet
SenRepus
budum tssss
teleGUISE
you mean and become as slow and inconsistent... I think we're there aren't we :P
Shepard
nechto13: there were ideas about "closing" albums long before wp did that
nechto13
i was talking more about artists, then albums, but that probably should be done to albums as well
Shepard
and we had several ideas about a wiki-like editing system, with different revisions and stuff, on the summit
teleGUISE
I think locking should be done on every mod I make... that would simplify things :)
SenRepus
funny
Shepard
so in the future you may have a system here where everyone at any time can edit textfield data without it going to vote. and then you can lock data and after that every change needs a vote
teleGUISE
locking has it advantages.. but many things arent that critical thats its a necessity

Shepard
tell inhouseuk that :)
hi dupuy

SenRepus
im in bed now, again, bye
Shepard
cu
teleGUISE
I can understand inhouse's point and agree.. cuz people who especially pay don't want data to say 1 thing today and another tomorrow and yet another next week ..

A simple lock would suffice in many cases... just like when having a disc id by not allowing add & remove track edits.. I would almost like to see that option removed completely.. cuz there really isnt a reason for it now.. Just add it correctly from the get go and call it done
nechto13
i suggest locking against voted down mods, so that no one can relpicate them, or on album imports, which are already in MB that have the same track listing. something like that, if not the complete locking mechanism
teleGUISE
Although looking it only accounts for 202 open edits..
Shepard
that's much more complicated
teleGUISE
which include Data track removals and nat adds
Shepard
and the definition of duplicate is fuzzy
nechto13
Shepard: i was just thinking that
nevermind
teleGUISE
we kind of have that now.. (album import) fuzzy match.. though a very (bad) generic one
I think our list of 'Data' in various languages should be last track checked when freedb imports are made... a simple coding addition that would alleviate the stupidly redundant Data track removal edits
or my even easier to implement suggestion (but dont help the noobz) allow you remove the darn things before importing them.. Still think that is dumb that we cant edit freedb imports... I dont even bother using them now with the COOL PARSING action
GURT
can't edit freedb imports??
teleGUISE
clarify: add - remove tracks
whole point of freedb (was) to simplify things and save typing though with all the crap it has usually creates more typing
now if I need something with + or - tracks of a freedb entry I just c&P and then parse it
i think it'd be cool if mb submitted revisions to freedb.. then no one would be importing the same CDs that have been 'fixed' over and over
teleGUISE
sure they would.. cuz its whatever one they grab first... and since freedb will keep them all nobody will sort through them
GURT
freedb dosen't keep revisions
it overwrites them
as long as they are submitted via something taht supports revisions
teleGUISE
True.. which the most commonly used stuff 'doesn't afaik what I mean though.. is if there are 10 versions of and 1 is MB correct there still is the possibility that the other 9 would be used..
unless you revise the other 9 as well..
GURT
revise the other 9 :P
teleGUISE
but than thats kind of working to fix freedb and not MB

it amazes me that people that arent concerned with MB and just want to tag their data still go through trouble of downloading the tagger, setting up an account, importing some freedb junk into mb.. tagging there crap...
dont these nimbots know they can just download a tagging program and type it themselves faster?
