You can't be lazy if you're doing things the more complicated way :D
ojnkpjg
but you ought not gripe about it taking forever if you admit it's that way because you're lazy
Kilu
it wouldn't have been complicated if the mods would have been voted through when I asked
everything would be ready now
ojnkpjg
it's a bit selfish to rely on others to do your bidding because you couldn't be bothered to do things the correct way first
Kilu
well, I guess it was wrong for me to rely on you guys
obviously
ojnkpjg
nobody's going to vote yes on a wrong mod
Kilu
it has been done before
ojnkpjg
ok, well, in any case, i don't think you have any justified complaint
Kilu
think what you will, but I have asked favours like this before when converting from album to various, and this is the first time someone was so anal about it
ojnkpjg
you admit you entered mods that were wrong because you were too lazy to do it the right way
Kilu
yes
ojnkpjg
ok.
juhae
:P
Kilu
I'm lazy because it takes a lot more my time to import va album than to import single artist album, convert to va, not to move the tracks, and then move 4 tracks to correct artists
ojnkpjg
and you're selfish because you ask others to spend their time reviewing the mods so you can save yours, and you increase the pending mod queue by 6 instead of 1
and if any of them fails, you end up with bad data in the db
Kilu
actually there would have been only 4 pending mods, because I would have asked a favour from automod to make the album-> va conversion, so I wouldn't have to wait for an hour to modbot close the mods.
oh and just so you know, this is the way that was proposed to me by automod last time I was whining about va conversion tediousness :D
ojnkpjg
who?
Kilu
don't remember
ojnkpjg
well, it's a terrible suggestion
if you can't be bothered to do things correctly, don't do them at all, if you're going to complain later
Kilu
I was making some ogre battle mod few months back. it's a three disc album with about 120 tracks in total for three artists. about 50% of the tracks are by one artist. can you imagine the work that it would be to go through 120 tracks one by one
this way I only had to change the artist in 60 tracks instead of 120.
ojnkpjg
and in the process introduce 61 points of failure
Kilu
yes
but what should matter is that the data is correct now
not what it was before
ojnkpjg
because at the time you ask people to vote for you, there is no guarantee it will end up that way
what if you get some random no votes along the way
maybe on the ->VA mod
Kilu
as I said, I would have asked a favour from automod to make the album-> va conversion, so I wouldn't have to wait for an hour to modbot close the mods
ojnkpjg
ok, then only 60 points of failure
instead of 0
because you're lazy
and you complain
i agree that i can be tedious but, it's the way it is right now
Kilu
everyone complains
cretwit
How come I'm suddenly reminded of my ex-girlfriend?
ojnkpjg
i've spent enough time entering them to know
Kilu
I still don't understand why does it matter what the data will be at some point. only thing that should matter is that the data will be correct in the end.
ojnkpjg
well, let me know when you've found a way to predict the future
Kilu
I wasn't going to predict future. I expected people to vote yes based on the comment I made, and as the hour was almost up it would have passed at the hour. then I would have asked automod to make the ->va. and then move the couple traks to different artists. as I said before, it has been done before. I just hope that next time I ask a favour in these parts you are not here
ojnkpjg
i'd like to point out you got no yes votes on those wrong adds
and there's no reason to make it personal
Kilu
I expect that there are no yes votes because you made such a big fuss out of it
ojnkpjg
i don't think you're in any epistemic position to have any justified belief of that sort
this is tiresome, though
you admit they're wrong
you admit it's because you're lazy
just save everybody the trouble and do it right
Kilu
well, as I said, it has been done before, so I expected it to work this time as well
nikki_ blinks
but I guess it all depends on the people who are active
last time it took 2 minutes to get the votes eventhough it was as wrong as this time

not sure how to attack that. :-(

what bug?
ah

if someone hacks the perl module to be a compliant sub-set of moin, we can probably patch this too.
but I'm not sure I want to patch the module just for this one little thing. ;(

inhouseuk notices the bug causing MBQ_GetCDInfo returning too many tracks where the discid matches more than one album has been fixed and removed the work around hack from his code
chocomo sneeses and goes to vacuume and wash the kitchen floor. yay
chocomo was laso not sarcastic about the 'yay' part
chocomo is weird
inhouseuk was puzzled when his code only returned 15 tracks on a 30 track album :(
chocomo thinks that is indeed weird
chocomo away: afk
Shepard
when i click on preview in the annotation editor i get a Preview and a Summary Preview section and see no difference there...
how are they supposed to differ?
intgr joined the channel
also the "Differences" section does not yet use the wiki syntax and so does not show newlines but that's ok i think :)

[Global Notice] Hi all. A few minutes ago, we experienced some server problems due to configuration issues with the current scale of spambot filtering. We've made configuration changes and we believe we should be in good shape. We'll keep you posted on anything further that may need to be done, and hopefully the issues are resolved for now.
[Global Notice] Thank for your patience, and thank you for using freenode. Have a great evening!

for this orchestra would the founded date be 1974 or 1979: "First organized at the Caramoor International Music Festival in the summer of 1979, the Orchestra evolved from the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, which was established in 1974 with Ensemble members forming the Orchestra's artistic core as principal players."
