Uninstalling it left the registry entries, so a new install was still broken. I had to change the registry by hand.
      • ruaok
which registry entry caused the problem??
      • somniloquy
Setting it to UTF-8 seems to be OK, but I'm not sure if it's renaming files correctly (the one with the square as a track title that I mentioned yesterday in particular).
      • ruaok
        the encoding one?
      • somniloquy
        IOEncoding.
      • ruaok
        which i never got, btw...
      • ok.
      • somniloquy
        Oh, you didn't get it...?
      • ruaok
        nope :-(
      • somniloquy
I wondered if it was working when it reported going at 100k/sec or so...
      • I'll try again...

      • somniloquy
It supposedly just sent it at far higher a rate than that.
      • Methinks something's broken with my e-mailing somewhere... >_<
      • ruaok
put it on an ftp site?
      • somniloquy
Could you just retag/name a random MP3, open the album it's from in the tagger and manually tell it to tag a file as that track?
      • It doesn't really need to be that song, does it?
      • ruaok
        maybe.
      • mail me the URL of the album in question, please.
      • somniloquy
        K.
      • If I can still mail plain text e-mails, even... ;)
      • ruaok
ok, first bug verified. (add dir issue)
      • somniloquy
        Cool. Kinda.
      • ruaok
it is cool -- if I can reproduce it, I can fix it. :-)
      • somniloquy
        :D
      • Would you like what the tagger spat into the log file after I set it to UTF-16 and it all broke, BTW?
      • ruaok
        sure!
      • somniloquy
Dunno if it's related at all, but:
      • ruaok
ok on to the next bug.
      • somniloquy
File "ntpath.pyc", line 282, in isfile
      • ruaok
is this after the UTF-16 setting?
      • Knio joined the channel
      • somniloquy
This is after having to close the tagger because I couldn't get the browser to work at all, and the add files option from the menu didn't work.
      • After being set to UTF-16, the tagger gave the error message saying it had written to the log file every time I closed it, writing the above, even if nothing appeared to have gone wrong other than it just not working.
      • After I went into the registry and set it to UTF-8 it worked fine again.
      • An e-mail may or may not have been sent to you from me now...
      • ruaok
        ok.
      • Knio has quit
      • I think I got a handle on these bugs.
      • what else?
      • somniloquy
As in anything else that happened then, or just other bugs?
      • ruaok
        other bugs please.
      • somniloquy
Browser won't let me drop files, but will allow me to drop dirs.

      • cikkolata
        normal teabag tea?
      • ruaok
I think that is the same bug as the dialog not letting you add dirs.
      • anything else?
      • somniloquy
        Yes, and no.
      • I like PG Tips or whatever, but also herbal teas, Earl Grey, green tea... all sorts.
      • I actually have coffee right now c_c
      • ruaok, a couple more.
      • Tagging just stops sometimes. Had an album with 6 tracks all called Intro or Outro, but they all had tracknumbers and were identified based on them. The rest of the album tagged, but those just sat there, retaining the green percentage match icon, despite having been renamed (maybe tagged too? I dunno, since I'd tagged them right before).
      • The hard-drive is going mad at this point, but the tagger doesn't appear to get anywhere, so I have to kill it.
      • Knio joined the channel
      • ruaok
does that always happen with those files?
      • somniloquy
        No.
      • This is the same album that contains the 'square' track.
      • It's happened on every album I try to tag though.
      • Making the tagger pretty much unusable just now.

      • ruaok
and if that track does not appear it works ok?
      • got your mail, btw. thanks!
      • somniloquy
        Cool. NP :)
      • Um... it's every album I try to tag, not just the one with the 'square'.
      • Sometimes it'll tag the files in ascending order by tracknumber. Sometimes it appears random.
      • real
        have to recompile krnel
      • somniloquy
In the former case, it'll get half to three quarters through and not mark the last ones as tagged.
      • In the latter it leaves random ones.
      • They seem to have been at least renamed, maybe even tagged, though, and the HD seems to go mental at the end but not actually be doing anything.
      • ruaok has seen that before, but cannot reproduce
      • It's stopping me tagging _anything_ :(
      • ruaok
        weird.
      • somniloquy
Seems to do it on every single album I try :(
      • ruaok
        wow.
      • ok, I'll go take a look at these issues later today.
      • somniloquy
        :)
      • ruaok
maybe I'll have a new build for you tomorrow.
      • thanks!
      • somniloquy
        There was one other thing.
      • Moving the mouse over the dir browser highlights things as I move over them if I've just dragged and dropped one. If I click on one it stops moving the highlight with the pointer again.

      • ...or is that bad...?
      • ruaok
somniloquy: yes, I now that happens, but I have no idea why.
      • somniloquy
        Ah, k.
      • That's all ^_^
      • ruaok
just double click somewhere in the whitespace area and things are ok.

      • I need to report that bug to the wxpython guys.
      • somniloquy
