hrm... reading the -user discussion that prompted web forum stuff.

mailing lists and wikis are bad "But everyone's used forums"?

i find web forums to be largely totally useless. impossible to read and full of crap that you have to wait to load in a web page with gfx and other crap.

nntp so much easier ;)

moderator - moderator communitcation is a bit lame right now.

i undetstand why mailing lists are bad too. too hard to just post a one liner question. have to subscribe then wade through unrelated messages to see if you get a reply and often don't.

so how are music collection systems supposed to use mb? keep a local cache of all rdf used to edit objects (ie, tag or otherwise change properties) and occasionally ping the server and reload all that to check for changes the user might be interested in?

All characters are allowed in the database - use whatever is correct.

so for mb database add 08/15

but what about for local

What reasons might cause musicbrainz to error out when writing id3s with the message (Could not write metadata to file)?

I have tried ripping with Grip and Kaudiocreator.

I even recompiled both of them.

I've actually been using the musicbrainz tagger. I couldn't find anything that would tag my files and re-organize like I wanted.

I've never heard of tunepimp

tunepimp is the library which the Tagger uses

I thought since you alluded to Linux, maybe you were using the tunepimp library directly

The chap you need to talk to is ruaok - the author of the Tagger

if you drop a mail to support at musicbrainz.org, he'll help you - he might ask for a sample file to work with
