I used the windows tagger several weeks back.

And I speak Python... so have been checking out "import musicbrainz" + examples.

Well, lets see if i can explain

Im using MB Tagger

I've found I can rewrite the tag if I...

open a file, click misidentified, click identified again, click misidentified...

then go into Unidentified

highlight the file and do a Lookup

then I can edit the box at the bottom to look for the album and artist I want

then I edit that to the correct album name and do a Lookup

then pick the song I want and write that tag

that's it whew...

maybe I dont use MB Tagger right

hmm, MB doesnt identify *every* song correctly (yet)

try loading in a few songs

It's only one song. I've identified several albums so far :)

well if its unidentified, and you suply the artist + album it looks it up

and shows you a list of songs from that album

each song has a little "tag" icon next to it

ya, and if its not htere, you can add it to db

click the tag icon by the right song

It's like the album name doesn't match the album name in the tag

All the other songs pick up the right tag from the album..u know?

Maybe I'll get another tagger program for problem tags like that one.

the win32 MBtagger crashed on me after i loaded my music collection in, so i'll stress test the linux one :)

do i have to grab it from CVS or is there a tarball/binary?

What version of the tagger as you using?

0.8.6-test is probably the most stable right now.

hi ruaok|busy - i was using 0.8.5 win32, and it crashed after loading in 70 gigs of mp3s, but i think this was because the mp3s were shared via samba and it was infinitly recursing or something weird. I'll ask icepic about linux taggers when he's about. Will also come and bug you on IRC later in the week about licenses etc :)
