Canada, being part of the Commonwealth, most likely would use fuelled, but then a lot of Americanisms have crept in to the Queens English :)

Hmh, I'd argue against it being "normal human sexuality".

I'd say sexual attraction is far more primitive than even the ability of forming strong emotional bonds, and that attraction is very much present in most humans.

Acting based on that sexual attraction is, of course, different thing altogether, but even then it would be closer to "traditionally favored form", not "normal".
