I don't see anything in https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style/Artist/Sort_Name about surnames beginning with "de", "van", etc.

"Sort according to the language" I think

"van" sorts differently for Belgian and Dutch people IIRC :D

But basically, use what they'd use. In Spanish, "de" would be after the first name at the end of the sortname. In English, for people living in the US, not so sure

He's American (as can be inferred from his affiliation)

WP consistently mentions him as "de Prume"

(compare with e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manuel_de_Falla where they don't use "de Falla" like that, because we Spanish wouldn't)
