I'm pretty sure that once upon a time I saw a musicbrainz plugin something thing for EAC, but I can't seem to find it now, in EAC. Was I dreaming?

Freso: I have no idea. I've never used EAC (though have been planning to for quite some time)

Why do we standardise to "feat." again?
reosarevok "fixes" a release, feels kinda silly

Yup, the guidelines say ft. or featuring should be turned into feat.

It made sense when we had them on track titles, because then we could detect them easily, but not sure about now
Freso
It's something that a lot of people want to specialcase, and there are a lot of variations on it.
reosarevok
The only use I can see left is for Picard and the like removing them from artist fields for people who don't want them, but surely adding a few extra cases to the regex that does that would be more reasonable (and I guess it already struggles with translated version)

Freso
/f(ea)?t(\.|uring)?/ will likely get most, but I probably forgot some of the variations. I always forget some.
(Also, that one would match on "fturing" 😏)
reosarevok
Well, sure, but how is missing some rare variations any worse than missing "avec" or "con" or "with"
(for people who don't want "additional" artists on the AC)
Freso
Because some people see those more like "&" and want to treat them different from "feat"?
Of course, some people want to lump them together with feat.
reosarevok
Well, "con" is used in Spanish releases in the same way "feat." is in English ones, at least (we don't have an equivalent - some rappers use feat, but)
It just feels like it's something that shouldn't be dealt with at our level but at tagger level
Let people pick what to apply it to
Freso
Sure. Last time we discussed it, I was more opposed to it.
Now... not so much.
"We" as "the community".
2 years ago maybe?
kjetilho
"feat." on rap albums is like "special guest star" on old TV shows
reosarevok
kjetilho: sure, it's more about whether it makes sense for us to keep converting "ft." and "featuring" and "ft" into "feat." :)
