Having a hard time figuring out how pseudonyms work on musicbrainz. If the artist isn't trying to hide who they are, can I just make it an alias?

I'm adding an artist entry for https://soundcloud.com/ryan-cc/, who makes instrumentals under one name, but sings using another. Since they have the other name in their soundcloud name, could I keep it to one artist entry?

portlean, not sure really. If it was me I would have Ryan C. with a disambig of Freddie Dredd and then put an alias for Freddie Dredd but I am not sure that is right
portlean
That's what I was thinking, since it seems like ryan c is his main focus
Major_Lurker
it can always be changed later if others have different ideas

is there a way to do a lookup with acousticid / picard using just a part of a track? seems to always want the duration, and fails to return a proper result without a duration close to what it's expecting, even with correct fingerprints

hibiscuskazeneko
thank you Major_Lurker
Major_Lurker
notdaniel, I don quite get what you are trying to do?
my use-case currently is identifying tracks in an edm set
so each track is not complete
but should be fingerprintable nonetheless because most of it is there
Major_Lurker
length of track you are dealing with?
SothoTalKer
acoustid is picky
notdaniel
yeah i am noticing that
i mean, it varies depending on the mix, but maybe the original track is 7min but only 4-5 is played in the mix
easily enough to determine the track via fingerprint but bizarrely acousticid wont return a result even if the fingerprints are a total match if the duration isnt correct
or seemingly withhin like 10% or so of what it's expecting
Major_Lurker
I would try what hibiscuskazeneko suggested
notdaniel
will do
Rotab
i dont think its possible
Major_Lurker
You may have to wait for a reply though
hibiscuskazeneko
That's why I suggested Discourse
notdaniel
yeah ill give it a shot
hibiscuskazeneko
It's not instantaneous like IRC; you can post a topic and people can easily see it later
notdaniel
im mostly attempting to avoid rolling my own fingerprinting thing for this purpose but still getting the 'shazam'-esque ability to fingerprint from just a small chunk of the track
hah yeah i am familiar with forums :P and am in no rush
Since it's on Wordpress, I'm not sure whether to classify it as a blog or official homepage.
Major_Lurker
I would go blog...
TehTotalPwnage
Ah okay, wasn't sure since the contents of the website didn't seem like a blog.
Major_Lurker
It is a strange one but it does not contain much info about the artist, more what he does.

Hello. I'm doing a task concerning adding a classical release. The tracklist of the release is somehow grouped into threes and fours as can be found here: https://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dc.asp?dc=D_... . How do I fill in the track numbers and titles? In groups? Should I go on with it the way it is provided there?
It concerns a task for Google Code-In
KassOtsimine
hi PROTechThor !
for this. the 1st track should be
Sonata in F major, Op 57:
Allegro, ma non troppo
oi da
track 2 and 3 also has sonata in f major etc prepended
for track 4 to 7 you prepend Four Romantic Pieces, Op 75
and so on
Sonata in F major, Op 57: Allegro, ma non troppo
one line
I would also suggest askign reosarevok or Major_Lurker our biggest editors of classical :D
