catquest: can you define original work date?

e.g. Maybellene was one of the first rock and roll songs. It was written and recorded in 1955 by Chuch Berry.

(adapted in part from the Western swing fiddle tune "Ida Red".)

on the sun studio sessions (which MB said was released in 2006) there is a live elvis cover.

now whether or not you believe elvis is still alive, he certianly didn't record that in 2006.

for the sake of arguement let's say this is an expanded version of the sun sessions which was recorded in 54-55 and that the live version was recorded in 54.

what is the original work date?

err... elvis recorded it in 55.

fwiw: i think the discogs entry for this combines various "Sun" recordings albums that shouldn't be combined.

Yaniel: If it’s a file on an "enhanced" CD of it’s a hidden track 0, then there are.

If it’s just an "ordinary" track in the CD TOC that just isn’t printed/noted on the cover, then there isn’t.

iconoclasthero: I don’t think it makes sense to ask others what their definition of whatever is? A better question might be what a term means for MusicBrainz or MusicBrainz Picard, or maybe even what *you* are looking to achieve regardless of terminology.

(Also, Discogs is Discogs. If Discogs combines something that doesn’t mean MusicBrainz has to, and vice versa too.)

One could add such things for "bonus" "hidden" "unlisted" tracks, etc.
