Freso: agreed, but it's good to have text too because a mockup won't show enough of how stuff actually works. Unless you actually code it all up first and then it's more an alpha than a mockup :D

I will try to code and make a draft web page too but given the time constraint i will make some image mock-up for the time being since the proposal is a draft one :)

ruchiranga: both of them are on the devel list anyway so they'd see your mail - if you want to contact them directly and they're not in here, I think both use the same name for their MB account so you can message them through it

But bitmap at least is available both here and in #musicbrainz-devel - however, don't ping him unless it really is something only a potential mentor can answer. MusicBrainz is a big community, and if the wider community disapproves or approves of something, chances are that whatever mentor you end up with will as well.

in lib the stuff should be inside /controller, /data and /entity, and also say event or similar :)

ruchiranga: they're generally assigned when assigning projects I think more than specifically students, but since we won't know what projects to take until we know what students to take... :)

Anyway, it's very likely that whoever of the two gets chosen officially, both will have some involvement in it (and also other people here)

I remember the Portuguese word being similar, but I haven't practised that in too long.

Now that Duolingo has Irish in its mobile version, that's become my go-to language.

Fun fact, Irish lost its p for a while in there, so many words from PIE that have an initial p lost it in Irish.

That's actually something slightly different. One sec.

So the deal there is that Indo-European had a /kʷ/ (labialized velar) sound, which is retained in Latin in words like quinque. However, the Celtic languages simplified the sound and split along how. P-Celtic languages like the Brythonic languages took the labial aspect, whereas Q-Celtic languages like the Goidelic languages took the velar aspect.

So "quinque"'s equivalent in Irish is cúig and in Welsh is pump.

Also, Irish "ceann" is from the same root as Welsh "pen".

No idea what the root was there or whether it has a cognate in Latin.

hi, i set up a local musicbrainz mirror but tagging new music via beet and musicbrainz is extremely slow(ca. 5 min for one album). Do you have any hints to speed up the search?
