hibiscuskazeneko: your ticket about cdjapan… well, why not neowing.co.jp then (their main site) ? and well, i don’t think it’s very good to add all the online shops… why not joshin, etc. ;)
and they probably remove their items when sold out… linking online shops, i don’t really know what it is useful for…
hibiscuskazeneko
they don't remove the listing, but they do list it as no longer available
jesus2099
i’ve not used them much… they don’t list correct label usually, do they ? what good would they be linked for ?
DarkAudit joined the channel
online shops are not the most accurate info providers in my humble experience…
hibiscuskazeneko
The relationship type says it all (they sell the actual release)
I've discovered artists via MB
and consequently sought to purchase their music
jesus2099
but there are tons of online shops…
linking them is just some free advertising…
i mean it’s very easy for anyone to find them without us linking already…… linking amazon is an exception for historical reasons
hibiscuskazeneko
I tend to link to ones I've used in the past
I wouldn't link to a shop I knew to be unreliable or a scam
flamingspinach
linking anything is free advertising
jesus2099
but when a release is in retail stores, in all online shops etc. i thought it was not the spirit of MB to link one of them… i don’t really get the purpose but i’m not against, if it’s needed :)
flamingspinach
also does amazon not pay mbz anymore?
personally I think you should add as many store links as you want
reosarevok
Well, they pay everyone for the referral (tiny amounts of money though, in the grand scale of things)
flamingspinach
if someone feels that their competitor is being unfairly linked then they can add their own store too lol
jesus2099
linking shops is most useful for exclusive source (like fanclud only releases, etc.)

wtf is this lol
jesus2099
and cdjapan is just containgin latin transliterations IIRC… neowing would be very slightly better for tracklists at least (but not perfect either imo)
hibiscuskazeneko
I don't know if the Neo-Wing frontend sells outside of Japan
you can serach the catalogue number of a release in duckduckgo and you’ll find ways to mail order the album (cdjapan or anything else)… the catalogue number is enough to store in MB, i mean why linking one of the sites… but you got my point already ;)
i have to go :) (^_^;)/
flamingspinach
i c
bye jesus2099
we know you will be lurking watching the logs even once you're "gone" though :P
jesus2099
not sure, flamingspinach :) i try to forget about IRC, forums, etc… now
hibiscuskazeneko is calculating her odds of finding it at Half Price Books
flamingspinach
wouldn't be surprised
hibiscuskazeneko
welp, I need a shower and have to be in Arlington at 11:00
so I have to go now

see ya :)

question, if a release mostly has english track names, and one single track in another language, should we be rigorous and switch to [multiple languages] for the release ?
Lotheric
for "made in Canada" on medium, should I use "manufactured in" relationship ? Or is there a more precise relationship that I don't know of ?
hawke
No.
It should be whatever the majority of the tracks are.
cacabuzztoes
thanks hawke

another question, when the band name is non-english, but likely is often written with caps for each word most of the time, should we still apply the specific language style ?
Leo_Verto
I don't see why you wouldn't
hawke joined the channel
cacabuzztoes
dunno, I hesitate with band names in 2 words mostly, because it then feels unbalanced ehe
and eventually because of artist intent, guessing they would use caps themselves
reosarevok
It's kinda weird actually
In theory, I guess you should
Almost no band in Spain would lowercase their name though
(as an example of country with no-all-caps style)
Leo_Verto
ah, that makes sense/actually doesn't
cacabuzztoes
yeah, my other guess was band names are considered a bit differently than track names
reosarevok
haha
Yeah - there's no language-specific band name guidelines at all, IIRC, so I guess whether the standard title ones apply or not is tricky, but in any case, nobody could probably claim it's very wrong to change to follow them
cacabuzztoes
okay, i'll try to get a bit more consistant with the style then, thanks ;)
