looks like "Herkulessaal" from 1600-1959, "Alter Herkulessaal" from 1959-1984, "Max-Joseph-Saal" from 1984 on

yes, at the end of page 2 - it was built from 1951-53 in the festsaalbau

the important part of that wikipedia article is "Herkulessaal (Hercules Hall), which has replaced the destroyed Large Throne Room"

so the throne room was destroyed during ww2 and they built the new hercules hall as a replacement

Or was the hall there previously, and they just added on to it and turned it into the banquet hall wing?

yeah, it's in something called "hofdamenstock", where hofdamen are ladies-in-waiting according to the dictionary. I'm still unsure what the meaning of "stock" in that word is :P

“The Hofdamenstock (Ladies-at-Court Rooms), including the original Herkulessaal (Herkules Hall), are installed between the Kaiserhof and the Kapellenhof (Chapel Court)”

Everywhere I can find, -stock is translated as “rooms”
