I'm trying to create an application using libmusicbrainz5 and am having a little trouble

Say I pass "The\ Shins" as argv[1]

printf("%d\n", mb5_release_list_size(rl)); prints 0

Why would this be?

Shouldn't it return the number of releases by The Shins?

Or am I missing something?

smabie: I haven't used that library, but I'd think you need to pass the artist's ID, not name (since name's aren't unique). wouldn't you?

I am not passing the name, mb5_artist_get_releaselist(artist);

artist is of type Md5Artist

that should be unique, no?

it's really just a void * pointer typecasted, the C interface is pretty lazy..

jesus2099: There's no limit for the amount of public (= standard) repositories per-user on GitHub. So you could have a repository for each of your scripts, if you wanted to. It's probably easier to manage them in a single one though.

I like the idea about shadow numbers

jesus2009: You can use "git mv" to "move" files in a repository.

Ie., rename them.

Freso: git mv is just a shorthand for mv, add, rm. The actual detection happens afterwards

but 'git mv' is easier to remember :)

And faster to type.

Detection doesn't kick in until diff-time, IIRC.

(And you can modify diff params to consider more/less things as moved files.)

I need to clean up some relationships, and it'll be easier once the two have been merged, so I won't have to clean it from both releases.

what artist should I put for a podcast? the artist tag is the same as the site that publishes it

"posted by" doesn't sound like an artist credit to me. it just sounds like the name of the person who wrote the blog post announcing the podcast?

back when i had my turntables i've posted many trance and hip-hop mixes online, but i wouldn't dare add them to the db

I guess I'd do ReleaseArtist [Tiny Mix Tapes] / [Kmmy Gbblr] and TrackArtist a big long artist credit with all the original artists joined by "/"?

i would definitely "fix" anything like that to VA

there is a relationship for tracks that were included in a mix

i don't mind the way you added the release probably the best with ARs to the tracks contained.. i just personally don't like those for the database

but i'm jaded and set in my ways

it's "produced:" enough that I wouldn't know how to identify the correct recordings

i could also bitch that its the transformer is "Jazz" and the music isn't jazz......
