I'm confused by the release itself, too. it's imported from discogs, but the track listings don't match and the barcode seems to be from a different release
(There's two different versions of track 11, the original long one, and the shorter one)
bricas
that's on me. i'll make a note to push the disc id to MB to get the proper track lengths then push the result to discogs if there's a need.
dominikh
just make sure not to mix up different releases of the album :)
these are apparently placeholder artist for "outro" and "interlude" whatevers

but it was in like 2005 so idk
reosarevok
Oh, ok, that's the idea
CatQuest
but i'm like. Dow *really* need this
*we
just merge into unknown?
reosarevok
Last used in 2015
Maybe not
CatQuest
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
dominikh
that's not the best argument, though
it's not being used because people see the disambiguation and don't use it ;)
CatQuest
hahaha
reosarevok
Well, that suggests people read the disambiguations, which isn't always clear :p
CatQuest
(sorry but "see the disambiguiation" seems to be unusal" :P
reosarevok
If we want to get rid I wouldn't merge
CatQuest
aha
reosarevok
I would just remove the DO NOT REMOVE tracks :p
CatQuest
yea. if we stil lafter lal want these have thme lined or osmeting to something
reosarevok
test artist performs as outro :p
CatQuest
:D

(now, whether one needs them or not: you're letting the world enter data freely, so you need all the help you can get :P)

derp, "every tagged file has a track ID" was a silly assumption to make, considering standalone recordings…

dominikh: make that "recording id" and you've got it
dominikh
CatQuest: yeah, but I do want to use the track id when I can; tracks kinda often change what recording they use; so I'll have to go with both
CatQuest
eh. no? thay shouldn't?
unless merged, but the orld recoridn sohuld point to the new one whne merged
old recording should*
dominikh
using the wrong recording seems like one of the easiest mistakes for newbies to make
CatQuest
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
dominikh
also, not just merging, but also splitting.
CatQuest
back whne we got NGS (next generation schema) all the tracks in the database got shiny new recordings (and ever since then we've been merging)
dominikh
I've had to deal with a fair bit of new recordings and splitting.
so yeah, the idea is to refer to the most specific thing (track where possible) and fetch all the other data live to get the freshest. of course I'm using the database directly, not the web API, or I might think differently.
and please don't mention the fact mediums can be edited in ways that change track IDs. I know. at that point people are on their own :P
Freso
dominikh: People can edit mediums in ways that change Track IDs. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
