Is there a reason why allmusic.com links aren't being accepted? I've tried to add a few but the web interface keeps telling me "This URL is not allowed for the selected link type, or is incorrectly formatted."

antlarr: if you set it as medley instead of arrangement you can set an order, if that's useful?
antlarr
I thought about it, but then I would have to add two other works which should be arrangements of the respective Beatles' songs, and there have never been arrangements of the single songs, just one medley/arrangement
reosarevok
I mean, you could just say the medley itself is arranged? Dunno
antlarr
you mean setting a (medley) "recording of" relationship in the recording with the two beatles' songs in order?
The medley attribute help says: "This indicates that the recording is of a medley, of which the work is one part."
hmmm, the recording also has an arranger relationship, for some reason I thought that was exclusive of works
that would be an option indeed, having everything at the recording level and just use the beatles works instead of creating new ones...
MBS-10192: Server error changing "arrangement of" to "medley of" between works

Is there any kind of consensus way of adding podcasts into MusicBrainz? I found some discussions about it but nothing definitive, there's a proposal for style from 2016, and there's at least three different ways people have been adding podcsats, none matching the proposal...

And reading back, I guess I answered my own question :D

that reminds me that musicbrainz doesn't have entries for the Hearts of Space program afaik (https://www.hos.com/#programs/number/001) , but how could those be added?

for those who don't know it, it's basically a "radio" program of one hour each that plays several songs one after another. Clicking on any program link one can see exactly which songs by which artists are played (including the start/end time and for some of them even links to the album in amazon containing the song)
Sort of nice that I couldn't find that with a search 8)
Kind of ugly as a style, though :P
CallerNo6
What were you hoping for?
I mean, it's never too late to get involved in shaping the style guidelines.
srotta
The style seems to be pushing awful lot of data into the release title - date, name of the program, title of the program, number, potentially location.
For podcasts - and I'd guess most radio programs - that gets duplicated into track title.
And I can't find even the examples from actual MusicBraind :P
(Maybe I just don't know how to use searches)

Yeah, I think the dates-in-titles bit doesn't really apply to podcasts, where episode numbers should be enough.
er, by "doesn't apply" I mean "wasn't meant to apply to". There's nothing in the guideline itself that implies that.
srotta
Hmm, and apparently that should also be duplicated to release group title? So the same title would be duplicated multiple times? And if the podcaster has multiple podcasts... every episode would be listed in the artist page as separate release group, with different podcasts mixed in random order?
CallerNo6
You can make a series to group podcast episodes.
CallerNo6 hasn't looked at the guideline in ages. I'm glad you brought it up. It could use some updating and clarification.
In the meantime, remember, they're not *rules*.
srotta
Sure (although series style guide is short to the point of appearing to mean "don't use it"), but do the series show up anywhere?
That proposal collects episodes as releases under a single release group, which kind of intuitively makes more sense to me although it doesn't exactly fit the model of release groups.
