Originally, it was a 2 person group: J.R. & Sharon. That was the name from 94 to 96.
CatQuest
well bands cna be renamed too
ajshell1
Then they added some more people in 96 and called it the J.R. and Sharon Band.
My question is: Should I treat these as two seperate groups?
CatQuest
and the music was basically the same?
ajshell1
Or as one band that changed names and members?
CatQuest
yea i don't thinkg so unless they where fundamentally like. "difernt things"
one band i think :)
ajshell1
They have the same overall style, so I'm calling it just one band.
CatQuest
there could be an argument for the first constalation being a collaboration between these two an credits being by them (so you cna use credit to thme direcly)
but if it was like "bar band" al lthe way thne it's best ot consier this the same band
yea
ajshell1
My argument is that the "biography" page I found on the internet archive lists both phases in the "biography" page
reosarevok
Yeah, I guess it makes sense to just add new members as needed and use the credits as printed (if there are CDs :) )
ajshell1
They do have CDs, somehow
JoeLlama has quit
Pressed CDs, not CD-Rs
CatQuest
two different bands for this sort of thing is more like a complete rename and differnt style of music + soem differnt members

ajshell1: neat!
ajshell1
One of them is even autographed.
CatQuest
my physics professors churchchoir also had some releases (cd's but also casette)
s oit does happen :D
reosarevok
ajshell1: for those, use the "credited as" option to list them with the older or newer name as appropriate :)
ajshell1
Thanks everyone

CatQuest
ok i'll try now!
uhm
"If you’re seeing this, you either have Javascript disabled, or I’ve gone and broken the page."
I have js on :D
huh. it was because it didn't liek jsut oging to the old link. it works now ok
kepstin
wait, no, i did actually break the page
forgot a </script> tag :) should work now
oh, still broken
fixed for real this time.
reosarevok
hahaha
CatQuest
so i is polyfill that it should work or a big box to paste isrcs becasue i don't see the latter
So. I have a Johnny Cash triple feature thing that bundles three existing compilation albums together. Allof those compilation albums already exist in the database
Should I add this as a completely new release group or what?
CatQuest: not sure what I can do here, I'll look into it more later. I suspect any real solution is gonna involve writing a lot more code to replicate what newer browsers have builtin :(
CatQuest
kepstin: yea. sorry :(
don't sweat. I'll just end up bugging reosarevok about adding some isrcs if i come across it :P
(hey maybe this will make him want to fix the website instead :PPP)
reosarevok
ajshell1: new RG, but you can use "Add medium" in the release editor to reuse the existing tracklists of the three releases
kepstin
yeah, rather than do much more work on this tool, i'm tempted to look at working on adding it to mbs properly.
CatQuest
yes please!
ajshell1
Thanks

Time to work on adding that weird-ass Russian album I found in a thrift store
Related note: Whoever designed Cyrillic cursive, give yourself a one-way ticket to a gulag. It's absolutely illegible
Ironically, I opened some of the tracks on that album in audacity. There's pretty much zero clipping. Which means that whoever produced those tracks did a better job than whoever was in charge of mixing my Metallica albums.
Freso
ajshell1: … Can *anyone* read that??
Rotab
clipping adds character
