I just added this release: https://musicbrainz.org/release/71a8b735-d834-4... . I want picard to tag the first track in english since otherwise I won't be able to write its name (nor read it), I think the recommended method is to add a pseudorelease with translated track names, but wouldn't it make more sense to add a recording alias with Locale = english ?
RyanWolf1120
i think english would make sense bud,
See if it has an official name
but it hink you should try to gibe it the name which it has originally
antlarr
the album back cover shows the track name in japanese, while the rest of the tracks are in english (as is the album name, which is called just like the japanese track name)
From the aliases documentation: "Aliases are used to localize an entity's main name into a different language, especially into a different script (e.g. the Russian name Π§Π°ΠΉΠΊΠΎΠ²ΡΠΊΠΈΠΉ is known in English as "Tchaikovsky" and in German "Tschaikowski")." . So I guess it's ok to use it like that
RyanWolf1120
yeah i think so
tho do confirm with mentors but i think mentioning it in aliases should do i
it

Link the ones you think are hard RyanWolf1120
I or one of the mentors will surely try to help you understand the task
RyanWolf1120
okay sure thanks
Cyna you are a mentor right'?

antlarr: you certainly can add the recording alias, but picard doesn't currently use those for tagging. if you want to use picard to tag the tracklist in english, you need to add a pseudorelease.
antlarr
kepstin: I see. I'll just add the information to the database and hope at some point someone does a picard plugin to translate track names to the preferred locales :)

+1 to that. it would make psudoreleases less necessary
