There are issues, that’s sure. I was interested to read specifically what pushed comradekingu away.
FWiW, I use Transifex regularly, using Firefox.
There are mostly a few regular translators, and sometimes new ones joining localization teams.

yvanzo: I can't accept their updated terms and agreements (following EU-GDPR) since it would dual-license all my work. It amounts to quite a lot.
Hosted Weblate has all the good libre software translators, more activity, and a much better community collectively.
There is always the sentiment that moving would lose something, but always the counterfactual gains.

comradekingu: How much trouble would it be to move all existing workflows over? I think that’d be the primary issue.
ZaphodBeeblebrox would probably try much harder to use weblate (also because trasnifex "community" is shorely lacking imho)

First submit a request https://hosted.weblate.org/hosting/ and then point the admin panel to the different files, freeze in Transifex, and take it from there
Main things we are missing with Transifex are: a reliable way to credit contributors, a safer glossary (with editing history and permissions), better organized communication tools.

I'm particularly interested in the translation discussion, because eventually we'll be looking to translate the MusicBrainz Picard User Guide https://picard-docs.musicbrainz.org (and I know absolutely nothing about the process).
And I'm sorry to say that I only speak / read / write English, so I'm absolutely no use in this area.

yvanzo: Those are the community guidelines, not the TM clause
However, it is tracking, profiling and buggy trashcan functionality across the board. What is insult and what is injury becomes meaningless in the greater sense of all of it being for the worse
yvanzo: Transifex does not retain translator copyright, and has lots of flaws overwriting all strings
